This last arc was absolutely miserable, but I'm still surprised it turned them off completely for a season 2. Then again, I think that's where I was at this point. Hopefully the pure gold of a last episode changes their mind but, they seem fairly set on it. Unfortunate.

Yeah this is one of those "story killer" arcs. It was way too long and for what little of value it provided compared to the previous 2 arcs. Tonari wasn't just unlikeable, her backstory was very uninteresting to me, and her friends served no support to her either. The saving grace of this arc was Hayase and her twisted antics that brought some entertainment back into the series, and I loved her and Fushi's conversation at the end. I don't blame you guys for losing interest in the anime, as a good amount of people did to by the end, but like Kaleb said, I am glad I still viewed this series, the high points were VERY high, but unfortunately the low points were VERY low.

I just want to point out a few key positives about this arc and its resolution : - Our main secondary character (Tonari) NOT DYING, which gives hope that not all arcs are gonna follow the same formula necessarily - With this arc we see that arcs can connect/interweave with each other - like Hayase's story spanning from the 2nd episode and continuing on Jananda. - Fushi encountering a more layered/complex/gray-area characters like Tonari. Gugu and March were angels, Tonari is not. Plus i want to point out that in the manga her backstory was shown literally from the very start of her arc giving us at least something to empathize with and understand her a little. So the decision to remove that from the start of the arc and instead have her act annoyingly for 3 episodes with nothing to connect to was an adaptation mistake imo. Regarding not watching season 2 i think Jacob and Caleb are very respectful about it, i also think that if people are not invested in a story they shouldnt force themselves to continue. Personally i believe that season 2 will be amazing and will go in fresh directions but if some tidbits annoyed you in s1 they may annoy you even more in s2, who knows. I encourage people to at least give s2 a try though.

I mean: the ending is paramount. I'd not count it out just yet.

I'm kinda sad they don't really like To Your Eternity that much. I would say that this arc is probably the worst of the anime, but I didn't really think it was bad enough to not care that much about the future of the show. I do appreciate the honesty though because at least they aren't pretending to like the aspects of the show they don't like.

I lost interest during this arc as well, I even felt a bit disappointed. You could call it poor storytelling. But manga readers will know how special it retroactively becomes.

The manga did this arc a lot better. I think the loss in production value also hurt a lot of the cooler moments that are drawn so well in the manga. I'll say season 2's content is going to be the best the series has to offer up until this point though. So I would encourage you to give season 2 a chance.
