All everyone needs is respect for life. Riz wasn't stopped by force, but seeing Legoshi and Louis achieve the true connection between herbi- and carnivores; to eat and be eaten, accepting that fact and understanding each other through it. That is what he wanted, to be accepted by his friend Tem, a herbivore, as he is, a carnivore who is big, scary and eats meat instead of the "nice teddy bear" he had to pretend to be. Like Louis accepted Ibuki and the Shishigumi. And that is why Ibuki felt Louis should be their boss and he'd rather die than work under someone else and return to having to bluff through his life. He was too kind for that life. R.I.P. Best Lion. That scene in the ED of him lunging at Louis was exactly like in the manga. This finale was so good, I only wish they could have had 13 episodes so it could have been a little less rushed and include some of the cut smaller scenes. Like a scene where Free drops Louis off at the edge of the market and after he leaves, Free remarks to himself what a crazy life it is and how they had fun with him as a boss. And Haru and Legoshi should had more time at the end... Still, this whole season was done so well, even though they had to cut some stuff that would become VERY important later, so if you plan on reading, start at the end of season 1 (chapter 48) or the beginning.

If you go back to the previous episode, Ibuki basically signals Free when he slams on the hood of the car and makes a bit of a scene about Louis wanting to leave. He's already planned out what's going to happen if he can't convince Louis to stay, and a bit of it is quite selfish. He wants to keep Louis as boss, he wants to continue that lifestyle he was growing accustomed to, and if Louis is actually going to leave... Ibuki doesn't want to risk going back to the way things were. So, he basically provokes Free to be suspicious of what's going on, and as the ED shows, he sees Free following on his bike. All the pieces are set in motion.
