Needless to say, that fighting was great. Studio Orange really shines in those moments. The switches between Riz's calm and real faces were so good. And that Haru scene, both wholesome and funny.

If there's one thing the anime fails at, it is conveying the passage of time well. All these things have taken weeks to months, but we really don't know because nobody really ever mentions time progressing off-hand to set up that next moment. A minor nitpick though, and probably pretty common in things adapted from weekly manga. I think the thing that was missed in the Haru/Legoshi discussion is that the easy solution of 'just telling Haru that Louis is alive' is actually the hard solution for Legoshi, not merely because he's socially awkward and immature as far as relationships go. Moreso that if he says that he is alive, he now has to answer all these questions about how he knows that, why he knows, why he's where he is, why Legoshi's been getting stronger by going to the dark market, why he's got to go there of all places to do it, and so on and so forth. Haru might understand some of these things, but to Legoshi, it seems like it'd be a good way to ruin the high of being told I love you. He failed at explaining his whole reasoning the first time in the library, and doesn't have anything more he could really say. If he were truly open with Haru, she would absolutely be trying to convince him not to do any of it, and that's sort of where the big conflict occurs between the two. Just like in the first season, where Legoshi couldn't understand Haru's day to day fears, that idea of living as a herbivore surrounded by potential threats, Haru likely can't process the very thing Legoshi went through with her, the urge to devour/the hunger for meat, the immense strength their bodies hold, and what that can do to a carnivore. Riz embodies that very thing. So opening himself up to that line of questioning, that conflict, is far harder for him than it is to go fight the bear. Fighting the bear is straightforward, trying to get Haru to understand that he's fighting the bear because of the exact same thing he went through with her, is far more difficult. So he takes the easy route of a sort of platitude to paint this picture of him doing something about it, because the alternative is him explaining the lived experience of a carnivore, and he's terrible with words. So he plans to do it with action.
