Did you notice that Kaoru seems more grounded? he is always the one following Hikaru on his path, Kaoru said "we're getting bored of him, huh?". In the episode were Haruhi could tell them apart Kaoru looked sideways at Hikaru to see how he was coping with it.

The only thing you really miss is that the twins liked the maid because she didn’t brownnose them or try to curry favor by lying and being fake.

I feel like the twins looked into Tamaki’s background to try and find an excuse to push him away. They tried to convince themselves that Tamaki only wanted to hang out with them because he was bored which they hate despite that being their own excuse when spending time with people.

Fun fact the story with the maid is from an extra chapter in the manga called Hitachiin family background and the twins actually ask the maid to stay for the week and play with them in exchange for the code because their parents are on a work trip. The twins end up bonding with her because she tells them stories about crimes and how she manipulates people to steal from them. She teaches them how you can fake feelings to make people feel bad for you and says you can’t trust anyone but yourself. The twins never see her leave but they see their aunt in front of the safe talking to some people. When the aunt asks them if they gave her the code they start crying for the first time in front of her making her feel bad for accusing them. They say their grateful to the maid for teaching them a great technique for getting by in the world. They consider it a heart warming story when they tell it to the club.

I just love how OHSHC mixes comedy and seriousness and how the show is so good at it.

Although it's a minor thing and not what the episode is about..... My favourite part about this episode is when Tamaki casually turns to Kyoya with his concerns and he doesn't act over the top with it. It's just like a normal conversation that anyone would have in every day life albeit short. There haven't been many serious conversations between them until this episode.
