I hate elsa and the fact that she pulled off an asspull in this episode made me even more annoyed when I first saw it. Although I guess it was more likely that Beatrice really wasn't trying to give it her all to actually kill her. But the way it was portrayed definitely looked like an asspull

So I really don't consider this a spoiler because subaru literally casually points it out in the episode and roswaal explains it but they are fully aware that Emilia in this episode is Emilia herself but just driven to the point of being crazy.... right? I think if they are confused they need to be clarified about that actually being emilia because it was confirmed this episode.

As well as Roswal knows that Subaru can reset but he doesn’t know that he has to die to do it. That’s why he wasn’t killing Subaru

Edit: Yeah, I don't think Emilia here is literally "possessed". I think like Caleb is saying, Roswaal is following his book, and its stating to isolate Emilia with a snowstorm. While not specifically stated, you could infer that her past being frozen combined with no one being beside her at this time (and possibly having to go through that first trail numerous times while stuck in the tomb) eventually turned her to yandere-status.
