I think what Mai might be implying with the forgotten kiss is that during the day that Sakuta forgot about her/couldn't see her, she kissed him to see if that could prompt him to remember her. My theory to when is while he was on the train, and he felt someone watching him.

On a side note, it's not only the visuals that changed in the ED, the singer changed as well, on the first version it was Mai's seiyuu, now it's Koga's seiyuu

The voice actors for the girls sing the ending song at different points during the season. Not just one person. You can tell with the voices being changed up.

Can fans please explain to me the appeal of the time loop trope? My first experience with this theme is Suzumiya Haruhi. My feelings went from "hmm, interesting" quickly to "Ok, this is getting stale". It feels pointless and tedious to watch a time period stuck on replay with some slight changes. This is not real life, just pure fantasy. It is this reason why I don't like Steins:gate and RE;zero. Main characters time loop repeatedly to stop a death, only for the audience to watch multiple brutal and gory ways a person can die or be murdered. Is there a point to this theme that I am missing or overlooking? I am genuinely curious to know what avid fans like about this that I am not seeing.

Well for stories that don’t try to go too sci-fi I think the purpose is typically to change the main character(s) for the better in the end. Also allows a safe zone for the MC to lie on their faults more and to survive bad outcomes.

I think the problem is that your first experience was the worst ever. There's no thing worse than getting through Endless Eight. Maybe you just got a really bad first impression of the trope.
