Yeah. This is one of my favorite anime fights. Right up there with Meruem vs Netero and Shimazaki vs Ex-Claw for me.

Hawk's fighting style is like 70% Prince Naseem Hamed + 30% Pre-exile Muhammad Ali, this style of boxing very much exists in real life ya'll.

Great Prince Naseem breakdown vid showcases lots of the Hawk inspirations https://youtu.be/BGHti8VZovk Great channel and has a great but spoilery video on Ippo and how it’s techniques were executed IRL. 3:30 shows some good clips of his crazy long uppercut and even includes a short clip of Bryan Hawk executing one (no spoilers). Around 6:30 the video goes into his stance switching and as it goes on for the next 40 seconds you see more and more of his ridiculous head movement and dodging. 7:25 has the Hawkish dodges which of course received significant “Ippofication” (can we make this a word?) and were exaggerated to have Hawk’s back and ankles literally at 90 degrees when he dodges.

This has always been one of my favorite anime fights of all time. But rewatching it now, I'd forgotten just how fucking amped up it gets you.

its something i always loved about the show how they use real life to inspire fighting styles and techniques and often times stick pretty close to them and simply adds some anime magic to it or ippofication as we say here XD which makes sense its an anime so ofcourse its gotta have some of that magic added to it atleast to me thats what makes it so exciting
