It’s not impossible to be a champ at an older age for example. 1994, George Foreman, age 45, becomes boxing's oldest heavyweight champion when he defeats 26-year-old Michael Moorer in the 10th round of their WBA fight in Las Vegas. More than 12,000 spectators at the MGM Grand Hotel watched Foreman dethrone Moorer, who went into the fight with a 35-0 record.

What about the oldest featherweight champ though? I'd suspect weight control would be way more tougher the older you are in that class.

Actually yeah that’s a great point I didn’t think about. I’m going to check that out. It would definitely be more taxing on the body.

I couldn’t find any older featherweight(126 lbs) champions specifically, but I did for super bantamweight(122 lbs), Daniel Zaragoza was a few weeks from his 38th birthday when he won the championship by points against Hector Acero-Sanchez in 1995. Then there is also one I found for super featherweight(130 lbs) Azumah Nelson at 37 won the championship against Gabe Ruelas in 5 rounds by TKO or KO also in 1995. Not as old as Foreman though so I wonder if late 30’s is the limit for the lighter weight classes to be an effective boxer.

Also I should mention that the Foreman fight was won because Foreman had inhuman power in his punches. He was being out boxed by Moorer badly and had his face and one of his eyes swollen up. Moorer would have won the fight by points if he didn’t get cocky and come too close to Foreman getting hit by one hard straight knocking him the F out.
