I think Askeladd was indeed joking when he asked Thors to lead his men back then. I think he just wanted to see how Thors would react. Askeladd is extremely wise and cunning, and I find him and Knut way more intriguing characters than Thorfinn. Thanks for the discussion! ^^

Thats interesting i thought he was completely serious. When you see the scene Askellad’s face is super serious and it isnt until enough time and Thors’ obvious refusal that Askellad lowers his head a bit and then goes all “JK JK.”
