This is a weird one, because for me personally, I just ASSUMED it wasn't nen alone doing that; giving yourself godlike power, but only to be used by others and your prerequisite for your power is "it becomes someone else's problem" does feel like a fair trade, but not quite in the same way that nen usually is. It's much more "monkey paw" than anything. But at the same time, it wasn't until... well, *later* that I figured out what was probably going on with Something. It seems a shame to leave them in the dark but irresponsible to steal their natural progression as well. The only issue would be if they start assuming Alluka is evil or at fault for all of this.

I agree, don't tell them anything. Even in the manga it isn't fully understood yet, so just leave it. There are only internet speculations anyway, nothing confirmed.
