God Enel

Failed no nut November.

Clare

I think the lier was meant to be over the fact he thought she was lying about not being able to save kite

Barre Bonds

I think Gon was calling her a liar, because back in episode 116 she promised Gon she'd go back and heal Kite knowing full well he was already dead.

E. Rose

The shonen suicide fight. God I’ve been waiting to see them react to it.

E. Rose

This also reflects Gon’s despair over Kite. He felt so responsible for his death that he wanted to die and take all that hurt Kite with him. That is why when he losses his arm he feels joy over the fact that in some way he was punished more for letting Kite get injured by Pitou.

Clare

they alluded to this, this was a main reason why the phantom troupe decided not to kill Kuripika (can't spell his name)

Spondylace

HYPE. I absolutely love this episode Also, for everyone who's finished the anime: I highly recommend Aleczandxr's "The Morality of Gon Freecss" analysis video on youtube! He points out some great connections in Gon's storyline throughout the series. :)

SIMON TSEHAYE

as Phinks said in episode 58, nen can become even more fearsome after death. That's why the phantom troupe didn't wan't to kill Kurapika after he put the judgment chain in Chrollo's heart.

Neutreu

Back in the Yorknew it was mentioned that if a users will is strong enough during death, their nen persists and becomes even stronger. This is one of the reasons that the Phantom Troupe didn't continue to target Kurapika, as killing him could cause his chain around Chrollo's heart to kill him. Here we see this happening with Pitou

Doofus

I really gotta get this off my chest. My first reaction to this was just like everyone, but every time I revisit this episode, the person I really feel sorry for is pitou. When pitou is first introduced, I simply hated her cuz of kite and I was just so focused on gon but it’s so sad that she went out this way. She may have been violent and malicious from birth but that is due to her being born from the queen’s consumption of malicious humans in ngl. Then we see her grow to represent the compassion the ants have and she shows so much potential for more that just evil. When she is healing komugi, she probably didn’t even realize who gon was and who this kite person gon was talking about was cuz she was so focused on healing and cuz she never learned kites name. The moment she heard komugi was safe on the phone, she could have ended gon but having learned empathy, decided to hold true to her word and heal kite but found out it was the person she had killed, sealing her own fate in a way. Even as she is dying, her mind is only having selfless thoughts of sacrifice for the king. She knew she couldn’t win but still fought and died a brutal, lonely death. Anyways that’s all haha I loved Jacob likenening gons condition to a blank check and Caleb’s reaction at 18:28 was priceless as he realized pitou was being clad by residual nen that became more powerful after death. Edit:well, I thought he did for a moment haha either way, the entire discussion was amazing as always

Barre Bonds

The discussion they were having about Story telling reminds me a lot of One Piece and why the story building is so good 👍

Evan Mayes

To my understanding, when Gon said "I'll use everything" He was talking about all the power/nen he will ever have in his life. Gon did say he did not care what happened all that he wanted was to make Pitou pay for what he/she did to kite.

Lærke

I don't like Gon's form, it looks ridiculous if you ask me. But the story implication, metafors and the overall presentation was awesome! It's just that hair, that's kinda bugging

Jaime Ruiz

fucking fanboys, Killua can smd

Yuion

well if you see it as Pitou said "he forced his body to mature [...]" hair growing seems logical of course then questionable why he has no beard

Anonymous

I don’t think it’s even clear that she knew who ‘kite’ was. She was never told his name. And didn’t seem to remember Gon until they were in the room with kite

Anonymous

I've been waiting for this episode reaction since this series began. I've watched this show around 5ish times now, and each time you watch you realize that there is so much foreshadowing to this one episode. From restrictions and pledges to Gon's insane nature sometimes. Its really really masterful. Welcome to the anti-super saiyan transformation ya'll. In anime a transformation in a character is usually met with joy and awe. The author wanted to turn it on its head. This transformation is horrifying and tragic. Love it so dang much!

Kencesar

I love you guys.

Matthew Proctor

I've been waiting for this episodes reaction since i found the channel

Thilde

Amazing reaction to an amazing episode

Jacky Lin

group hugs

Watcherdude65

Which is another indicator of patience in story telling. That plot point was left so long ago, if I were writing I don't know if I would have been able to leave it so long.

Watcherdude65

I think that is the tragedy of Pitou and many chimera ants, that their potential is cut short. From the development of her empathy and seeing similar changes in Youpi we get the feeling that maybe, just maybe there could have been a positive future for Pitou. Of course that doesn't forgive her actions and the lives she took but it shows both the light and dark of humanity in Gon slaughtering her and her splendid loyalty of relief.

EvAnn

This is how I understood it, too. He barely even registered Pitou's declaration of them having to kill Gon. There was only one thing in his head and that was to heal Kite. So when Pitou did not, he called them a liar.

Jay Hunter

To me, Gon’s hatsu itself is foreshadowing for this. Jajanken is focusing all your power to one point, sacrificing your own aura defense/safety. Just like him focusing solely on killing Pitou while abandoning his own well-being

Watcherdude65

Simple, blunt and focused without care for the rest, much like Gon himself.

Alejandro Gil

Someone make sure the bros drink lots of water in 2 weeks. I don't think they are ready

Garikai

Everything I wanted. More than I could have asked for. We’re not even done. We’re not even facking done!!!!!!!!!!!

Trig

Awesome reaction. Jacob what do you think is the greatest show if not HxH, or is there none?

SuperTallBird

Can someone please unlike this so we have 131 likes.

Loro Lukic

After many times of watching this, I just realized that when Killua tries to save Gon, you can hear his footstep, opposite to him having silent feet. There's a lot of ways to interpret this but just a little thing I noticed.

Ghoul

this shall not cross 131 likes

Anthia Grant

YEEESSSSS!!!!! It's here! It's here!!! It's finally HERE!!!!

lisa son

gons weird character, like u talked about, with his mild sociopath behaviour and stuff, kind of made me think about why hisoka was so invested/interested/entertained by gon. maybe he forsaw something within gon that he recognized as darkness. just a thought that popped up.

Casioka

Loving the thumbnail!

sacombankmonkey

funny story: Togashi did left a clifthanger when Gon turned adult in the manga, then went hiatus for nearly a year. Everyone basically called him Gon-san at that point.

Dirak2012

Best $5 ever spent. I really like how the ending theme seems to blend perfectly with the end of the episode, it gives me a feel of... this is the end of everything, and i can help to cry everytime. Priceless reactions too.

Anonymous

Same here. Having this and 135 near it seemed the right time to become one.

Anonymous

Every HxH fan should watch all of his videos on HxH, they all are amazing! :)

Emmanuel

Getting to watch this yesterday was a fucking holiday for me. 10/10

Damiester

Pitou T.T RIP

Damiester

Someone remind them that nen after death becomes stronger. This is a VERY IMPORTANT point from here on out. So even if you don't spoil, just remind them that Phinx mentioned this before!

Damiester

SOS Bros... please remember that Togashi's previous major hit series Yu Yu Hakusho dealt with very similar themes. The Chimera Ants arc was pretty much what the middle to latter part of Yu Yu Hakusho was about, but more fleshed out. The whole thing about how we're not supposed to trust the good vs evil thing, with demons being the actual victims and the spirit world being corrupt assholes etc...

R_K41

Not true, since you don't see the Adult Gon form (Gon-san) until chapter 306 and Gon Jajanken's Pitou in that very same chapter so.

R_K41

I say Yu Yu Hakusho is what happens when Togashi writes a "typical Shounen", while HunterXHunter is simply Togashi exploring and pushing the limits of his potential and creativity.

Damiester

I was addressing part of their discussion how they claimed there's no way Togashi didn't plan it out, but then Caleb goes and conclude that it wasn't planned out detail-wise. The thing is Togashi probably did plan it out because it deals with the same issues Yu Yu Hakusho did. He expanded on previous high potential ideas, which is why it's so complex and beautiful.

Bronziteman

This was awsome. Calebs reaction thinking that killua was going to die was on point.

desoblio

When Gon says "I'll use everything" I have seen it translated in different versions/languages of the episode as "I'll use everything I'll ever have" or other phrases along those lines so there might be a slight translation mixup for that particuliar phrase. But essentially that might've been Gon's condition (as well as other things maybe) to get everything he'd ever acquire in his lifetime in terms of power and use it for this boost.
