SOS Bros React - HunterxHunter Episode 70 - Rock...Paper...ROCK!!!

Gon's gone full Gon. Never go against a Gon head on that's gone full Gon. Although even though Gon showed Razor not to take him lightly, the team is looking worse for wear. Especially Killua!! But it looks like they have a plan to get the ball back from Razor. Hopefully it works... What did you think of the episode? Leave your thoughts in the comments below! Why does Jacob keep mistaking obvious conjuror techniques for manipulator techniques? Like, when someone summons something, there's gotta be either transmutation or conjuring involved. In fact, I've seen manipulator nen being brought up way too often for completely unrelated matters.

Damiester

Let's just look at Kastro's clones for example. It was specifically mentioned that they were made using conjuring techniques THEN manipulated with manipulator techniques. You could literally explain it with the words' definitions. Conjuring is also what Kurapika did to create the chains. He masqueraded as a manipulator by showing his chains so opponents think they're manipulated objects. So Caleb is correct in his interpretation.

You guys trying to figure out what happens next is hilarious! Ahhh the magic of imagination.

This is one of first times when i noticed how selfish Gon can be or how Killua loves Gon more than Gon loves Killua, aware he is letting Killua get hurt for having an indisputable win, this also made me feel bad for Killua because he doesn't get as much love back. (spoilers below) this dynamic obviously because much more obvious near the end of chimera arc ant.

How do you like hisoka but not oikawa... one is just as trashy as the other 😂

Damiester

Gon did that a lot in the earlier episodes lol. It's one of the reasons why people think he's dangerous.

Princess Paladin

My favorite track in the series gets its first intro in this episode. Emperor Time is possibly the most hype anime OST of all time.

If Gon has to hurt one person among all human beings, he will choose himself, just like most Shonen protagonists do. However, if he has to hurt two people among all human beings, he will choose himself and Killua, simply because Killua is his best friend. Meanwhile, Killua will choose to hurt anyone except Gon, also simply because Gon is his best friend.

Regarding Kurapika's first condition (to only use the chains on the Phantom Troupe), in the anime version the teacher calls it weak, but in the manga he actually says that it's quite restricted or limited. I alkways took it as meaning "it's restrictive enough (therefore efficient), maybe even too restrictive." Then Kurapika adds another even more strict condition. The first condition means that Kurapika can only ever use his nen on a handful of people in the world. Other conditions we have seen so far are the likes of "touch someone and tell them how your power works" - "Tell me your name and birth date" - "I must stab someone with this needle" - "We must be inside this specific boxing ring." Only the latter seems at least as restrictive as Kurapika's first condition, and none come even close to "I will die if I break this rule" making that second restriction an exception rather than the average commitment needed for a strong condition.

Damn, just imagining your discussion after episode 116 gives me goosebumps <3

Oh, and TBH, i don't think Hisoka is "that way". He seems to be both emotionally and sexually attracted to people he considers strong. It's not like he's a gay/pedophile/whatever. It's actually something that you might find worth remembering or just thinking about, because there might be more scenes similar to the newest one.

Princess Paladin

Technically those are Emitter techniques, not Conjuror, because Conjuring is only for when you make real physical objects, apparently. Razor's devils are Nen constructs, and since he's adjacent to both Enhancer and Manipulator as an Emitter, it might indeed take a Manipulator technique to control them. Unlike Kastro, who was an Enhancer, however, he doesn't lose much potential because he only needs "the thing he's good at" and "one of the things he's almost as good at", whereas Kastro was trying to make a real physical clone, not just a nen construct, and then ALSO trying to remote control it. Razor can just make non-intelligent constructs he controls.

Princess Paladin

Please don't talk about future episodes. This counts as a spoiler. "Oh, I can't wait for X!" Don't do this. It creates expectations. They will get there eventually. There's no reason to try to hype them up about it or even mention it. They've stated this repeatedly.

Vern

Are fictional episodes okay? Because episode 149 is amazing.

Vern

I like your edit. Everything past the first sentence. Instead of making a second post. You pretend to have said it all to new people. And then made a second post to reply to just me.

Umbrazoro

Thanks for that explanation. I was just gonna tell them that Razor is canonically an emitter, but this is so much better.

Umbrazoro

I'm pretty sure that curveball was just a that, no nen making it move otherwise. My cousin plays a lot of dodgeball, and he was able to do throws just like that.

Vern

So I have your permission to talk about the dark continent? That's 149ish

Vern

In be before you edit a post and change your rules. Grabbed screenshot since you liked to edit your post to manipulate your narrative

i also really like the idea of killuas/gons relationship. I agree with u guys in terms of the "unequalness". I feel like gon can make anyone his friend easily, while killua never really does that or experienced an actual true friendship. I do think that gon cares for killua but when I first watched this show/episode I was actually surprised by his willingness to endanger/hurt killua just so he could have the satisfaction and to fill his ego in a way, and I didn't like that. but at the same time, he intentionally chose killua to do it because of his trust towards him. so its kind of like a double edged sword? I found it interesting that usually shonen characters put the safety of their friends first before their "goal" or ego to win, but gon is kindof different in that sense (which I like). I hope u keep analysing their relationship in future episodes as well. nice reaction. (also side note, everything about gon/killua are opposites so I like the contrast of gon trying to get to his dad, to killua trying to get away from him dad lol)

Kyle O'Reilly

When you all finish episode 75 can you do a mid series like review and talk and expectations of the next half etc of the series?

Damiester

Considering how those clones don't seem to be remote controlled unlike the gorillas, I'd wager that the manipulation aspects would be extremely low. Also, for emitter techniques to take the form of clones, you'll need to see materials that are used for their "skin". Look at Shachmono Tocino's balloon figures. He's the only other known Emitter in the anime to do anything similar to what Razor's doing right now. You can really see the difference between manipulated clones and ones that are somewhat sentient. Razor's being the latter.

kevinup

I would love this thoroughly! Not even Neon would be able to get it right.

This may have been short, but this was a really cool read. I love just reading analyses of nen, it's super interesting. Also, the point regarding the "death restriction" is so often overlooked. Betting your life on ensuring you never use a specific (highly useful!) power on anyone except like, a dozen people is a BIG DEAL. Not only does it limit your combat ability, but because of the rules of nen, mistakes could be deadly. For example, if Kurapika had not teamed up with Hisoka and instead made him his first target, would the restriction have spared him for using CJ on a non-Spider simply because he "didn't know"? Unlikely, methinks. I would assume that unless someone has an aspect more important to them than their own life (Killua's protection of Gon, possibly), setting the death restriction is probably the strongest one you can set.

@Vern can you stop throwing shade at the anti-spoiler sentiment every single episode? its pretty annoying and childish, if you dont like their wish for a spoilerfree comment section say it loud and clear and if it doesnt change suck it up instead of whining every time.

+Vern "So I have your permission to talk about the dark continent? That's 149ish" This just makes no sense. Paladin's reply was to say "as long as you're not spoiling or being a dick" then no one would care, but here you are doing both. So no, you don't have "permission." Ah, but of course! Paladin must've edited the 2nd comment too! Even if that were the case, would you mind explaining what is the point of you deliberately being abrasive and posting spoilers? Personally, I don't mind what the OP said, he/she is just expressing his/her excitement to the community. That's great! But then there's you who's directly going against SOS's wishes and trying to sow discord in the comments. And for what reason?

Vern

I say a think and get like 3 one ups. YOu all talk with a single one up. So you one uped yourself clever nobody noticed >.>

fitcessx

what are you, 10? who cares about "one ups" (i assume you mean the upvotes). i certainly didnt give anyone here any upvote. to prove this, now i have 3 instead of 2 since i "one upped" myself now, take this! lmao

Emmanuel

This would be really fun actually. I wouldn't even mind if it took up an episode slot for that week.
