I am 90% sure that fansub didn’t cover it properly, and if you’re avoiding spoilers, you probably shouldn’t know this, so let me point out a very important word choice in the episode. (I apologize if you do know this, although some people still probably don’t.) There’s that moment when Suga starts saying something to Kageyama, and then we see what he meant to say - 勝てよ (kateyo)、but a few moments later we hear him say 勝つぞ (katsuzo) instead. It’s a really precious difference, because “kateyo” is something along the lines of “go out there and win this thing” = it excludes the speaker from the action; so instead Suga says “katsuzo”, which is more of “let’s win this (together)”, and that already includes him in the action, so you could say he realizes&admits that he also plays his role in Karasuno’s game, which is the sweetest touch :)

worth noting.... because foreshadowing.... that Ennoshita was the one telling Kageyama he needed to talk to other players more, because Ennoshita understands the players and how they all think. Watch him is all im saying. ;D

Watching you love Haikyuu so much gives me so much life like?? I don’t even understand it myself properly, but it makes me smile like an idiot to see you guys enjoy is so genuinely and yell about it just like me and my friends, and you just appreciating all the good things about it with this amount of enthusiasm. Yeah but the point was that suga was able to recognize and vocalise that this match was still his to fight just as much even after having to leave spot for kageyama. That exchange had much less to do with this match possibly being the last one but more with sugawara's strength and growth. I'm glad the guys still enjoyed it but sorry they missed such a beautiful character moment.

Wow, THANK YOU for this. I've watched this anime 3 times but I never understood the difference in what he was about to say vs what he ended up saying. Even though I knew that was a tender moment for Suga, I guess I never grasped just how deep it was.
