is this THAT scene episode? if yes oh my god i'm ready

Rhiannon

I forgot how insanely tense this gets.

Minashiro Soushi

I love the little details like this in the show. There's also a thing, that you can never hear Killua walk. Whenever there's a scene with audible footsteps, you can hear everyone, except him ;)

Mavengoose Unlimited

Zetsu is also a nen technique which needs training. I really good “En” user might be able to sense mediocre “Zetsu” user. Proficiency level of hiding vs seeking for example

Anonimowy Gaal

You're so not ready and i so love it :3 Oh, i love supporting you, even if it's not much!

Jacob is right about the specialist category. It doesn't mean that you have 100% proficiency in every Nen category like Kurapika, that's just HIS specialist ability which is "Emperor Time". As Wing said, specialist is something that doesn't fall within the other categories.

SuperTallBird

Look, this episode, and the next 2 are some of the best in the first half of HxH. But I would give them up for a full length reaction to tomorrows Made in Abyss episode.

Anonymous

They can't have full length MiA because of how they recorded it. Sucks, but it is what it is.

TheMadBarber

This is one of my favourite episodes of the arc. The tailing is so intense. The first time i read this part it kept me on my toes the whole time. I think one of the strength of HxH is the capacity to make the tension rise and make you fell the danger the characters are in. When it works we have the best part of HxH, when it doesn't... we have the worst ones. It's a thing very few shonen can do. The only one that does it at almost the same level, I think, is Naruto in the first 2 arcs, Zabusa's arc and the Chunin exam (the forest trial). I think it's because to create tension usually the MCs will be placed in a situation where the antagonist(s) is(are) clearly stronger that them, but in most cases there is always someone that will come to the rescue. And you clearly know they will. Think of Goku in DB/DBZ or All Might in BNHA (the USJ accident for example). Here instead you think: "It's impossible thay will get caught. Who will save them? No one knows where they are! They can't get caught here." But they do. And the tension rises even more. It's amazing.

Clare

great reaction :D

The Phantom Troupe only stole the treasure for the FIRST auction night. That's why the mafia is able to make a second auction so confidently despite not having recovered anything yet (apart from their making a statement of not being afraid).

Clare

Killua was actually doing his job well though, literally the only reason they failed was because they were being trailed themselves. I kinda think you both underestimate Killua's skills sometimes and I want to add something else but thats spoilers for next ep so I'll shut up, lol\

It's all kicking off now bois!!! :D

Kingjasco

It's a techniue for Kurapika alone, he called it Emperor time during the fight. with Uvo. And in the show you usually name your techniques yourself. I doubt he'd stealing other people's names and techniques.

Man I love how the music increased the intensity of the stalking scenes. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time! It really was able to convey a sense of dread to the viewer.

Princess Paladin

You keep skipping the Hunterpedia entries at the end. :(

That discussion, though! I reallyyyyy want to comment about some things you mentioned so badly, but I don't want to spoil lol. Some things I wanted to mention: 1) With regards to the Nen personality test, remember that Hisoka said, "It's also as unreliable as a blood type personality test <3," sooo while it's fun to try to figure out a character's Nen type based on his/her personality, it's not really completely reliable. It’s better to look at the abilities and figure it out from there. Neon is really not charismatic, in my opinion. 2) Jacob is so right about the Specialist category. Emperor Time is solely Kurapika's ability, the ability to use all Nen categories at 100%. (And no, his ability isn't broken. Everything has a price even if it isn’t revealed right now.) I think Kurapika revelead his ability to Uvo, because he knew Uvo wouldn’t leave alive. If it was something that applied to all Specialists, then it would’ve been common knowledge, and Wing, as a master/teacher, would’ve known at least that. 3) How do Specialists determine how strong their abilities are? Kurapika showed it already (and this applies to all Nen users, by the way). Restriction x Vow. Rulesssssssss to make your ability stronger. How do they choose their abilities? Soul searching, I think, haha. To be fair, coming up with an ability (Hatsu) is something everyone has to deal with; it might just be harder for a Specialist because they have no starting point, unlike the other categories. 4) The Phantom Troupe only attacked the FIRST night of the auction. This is a minor detail, so I don't blame you for forgetting, but the auction lasts a couple nights (I believe it was 10). That means that they only stole the treasure that was being auctioned for the first night. The Mafia still has the other treasures for the following nights. 5) I actually don’t think this was meant to be ambiguous, so I’ll clear it up for you. Yes, the treasure was in the bag that Owl had. He gave it up when Feitan tortured him. It was implied. 6) The nicest Phantom Troupe member’s name is Shalnark :D 7) Yesss, let’s all be Chrollo fanboys :D I think I wrote too much lol. I can’t wait for future episodes!

The Yorknew auction lasts several days. The treasure taken by Owl are only for the first day.

Whichever class of nen you may fall in, the only way to improve your nen is through improving your ren and hatsu. Additionally, the more aura quantity you are born with, the stronger your nen ability.

BennLimos

One of my favorite moments in HxH is when Nobunaga asked Killua the 3rd question. Every time I watch this scene I just can't help but somehow HATE on the world for putting Killua into such a catch 22 situation, or hate Togashi, lol. That scene is just so intense I can't imagine another show doing that. I think I remember the Walking Dead giving Rick that sort of dilemma but to see that in an anime, it just makes Hunter x hunter the type of anime that will blow your mind and would make you say sorry for thinking that it's a kids show... but that is if the viewer could pay enough attention to detail.

My God, the day has finally come, only a few more hours!

Thinking about, I think you guys my have been a bit harsh on Killua in saying that he was dumb and arrogant. Remember Killua is still getting used to having friends, and honestly he's doing all of this in order to help Gon. By doing this mission for Gon, he's going against his instincts and what he's been raised on in order to help his friend. This all feels unusual for him. His family is a group of born and bred assassins, that means they weigh everything in terms of personal and financial gain. Doing something to help out a friend that will not real gain him anything in the long run in not something Killua is used to. However, he still wants to try it out because he deeply desires to be Gon's friend. So while his instincts tell him from the very beginning that this is a bad idea and that he shouldn't do this, he wants so badly to do this for Gon that he keeps going forward, even when everything is telling him not to. Also, he has never really had to do this kind of tracking before with someone who didn't also know how to do it, or at least was not on the same level as himself. Everyone else in his family could do this kind of tracking blindfolded. If he was out in the field with one of them, he wouldn't have to worry about anybody but himself. He knows Gon is newbie at all this (what he did with Hisoka was very risky and that's why Killua hit him) and so as the more experienced one and because Gon is his friend and is precious to him, he feels responsible for him and thus put the entire mission on his shoulders. That's why he does so seemingly foolish and unnecessary things here. Killua is guilty of nothing more that trying his best to please a friend, in a friendship that is still new to him. Honestly, this connection between Gon and Killua is the very heart of this series and the reason I personally like HxH so much. What we see here is all part of the growth of that.

MrCinos

Of course there are upbringing issues with Killua, but it doesn't make him any less stupid and/or arrogant in SOME aspects at the moment so anyone would be justified to call out those traits in him. Good thing he gets better overtime and overcomes some of his issues. But just remembering that he seriously thought he'd be able to kill Netero is making me laugh.

Kyle

he definitely acts stupid and arrogant, and even stupid in this moment. But Jennifer did a good job pointing out that he is committing to this whole chase for Gon's sake in the first place. So saying that he was acting out of competition or arrogance here doesn't really make sense in retrospect to THIS situation.

I just realized, when Phinks grabbed Killa's legs, it left him with some scarring around his ankles.... what's it mean??

Irenesharda

I think that most of that is chalked up to the fact that despite his strength, smarts, and experience, Killua, like Gon, is still a kid, and he will act in ways a kid would. Kids will act arrogant and stupid at times naturally as they continue to grow emotionally and mature. They can only react and make assumptions and solve problem with their own limited knowledge, thus why many kids (probably including ourselves at one point) think they are much smarter than the adults in charge over them. Included in that is how Killua assumption that he could kill Netero, as his knowledge of the world was quite small. I don't know how many times that I have been teaching my own students and listen to them thinking, "Was I ever actually this dumb?" :p

Irenesharda

Probably more of an abrasion than actual scarring. Have you ever tried to grab the arm of a running person? Something like that.

SmilePlease

And they stay consistent with it. The injuries are still there in episode 50.
