Concerning Hisoka’s severed arm: pretty sure the lack of blood and the weird mist effect was all censorship. It was pretty bloody in the manga as far as I recall.

I honestly I think you guys missed hisoka's motivation in this episode. Remenber Kastro was kept alive by hisoka so he could fight him.

I feel pretty similar about this episode, although I found the exposition more needed because I'm not able to catch on to details that well lol. Although I think it could've been handled better. Either way, I'm looking forward to your next reaction!!

Just remember guys, Nen is still very new to you. This constant exposition won't last forever, the writer just wants to add depth to the power system.

As a first impression I can see where you guys come from. In the 99 version this fight was hyped up almost until this part and (not a spoiler) in the following episode they concluded it in a 5-second anticlimactic flashback, probably to avoid having to censor that much. They didn't even bother to explain the details of the fight outcome either. I feel that didn't affect my opinion of the series at all (it's my all-time favorite anime), and actually at some other points the 99 version skips some nen skill explanations and makes you infer. This new version feels a little spoonfeedy at points, but many of those explanations are taken or adapted from the manga. I didn't even know this fight had so much dialogue until I read the manga.

you have to take hxh 2011 as a final refined product made to make a pretty complex manga suitable for new generation anime watchers and consumer market that needs to approach things with some spoonfed content. At the end of the day i don't think they dislike it at all. To really get catched they need some emotional attachment to the characters so just let them have it build up naturally. Anyways are you guys considering the possibility to release timer based reactions, maybe alongside the cut link if you still want to keep going

All shonen tend to be that way both in manga & anime format. This fight is important for the sake of what's coming in the next couple of episodes and to give more exposition to how flexible Nen can be when it comes to its applications.

Lmao, sadly they're entertainers and they have to do stuff like that in order to please their audience. That's why their MHA vids are so long, it's what's gonna make them more money haha.

I-in any case, the discussion was the best part of this episode. Just as a bit of additional info: yes, the blood was censored (as well as another little thing that Hisoka does); Togashi himself said that he doesn't like the way he wrote this fight.

I quite enjoyed the next episode so can't wait for that one but you are right the fight wasn't to interesting in the beginning though I do want to say some things but that's spoilers for the next episode lol, so I'll wait for that to come out first x

Happy Thanksgiving you two! Also, remember what Hisoka was presented as when you first met him. He's a magician. And any magician worth their salt knows that their first and most important weapon--is distraction. Also a magician will know how to read his audience. Remember both of the these things as the fight continues.
