Oh Ren 100% was implying for Takumi to sleep with Rerira - if you rewatch that scene and look at the hand movement he for sure was proposing that. And in a way, it is surprsiging Takumi is for the first time we are able to see - putting somebody over business. Coz lets be real Reira would probably be okay with being even just his side-chick. He could still marry Hachiko, and have Reira on the side, and grow his castle while jugglign 2 women. So while Ren´s proposal is quite digusting, it is reasonable (tho I do think it does show a side of Ren we did not see yet before)..so the fact Takumi is not taking this proposal and running with it, is truly the first time we see him be human...which is conflicting, but also a reminder that while he is an asshole he has the capacity to care - which I d say is almost surprising.

I think Takumi is a complex caracter. It's easy to say "Takumi in an asshole". Because of his past he couldn't demostrate love, as often happens to victims of parental abuse. he doesn't know what it means love someone or even to be loved. Reira "loves" him, but doesn't appreciate him, in fact, despite being rejected, she tries in every way to win him over, without respecting his feelings, trying to make him feel guilty (and failing). Nobody likes Takumi, he doesn't like himself, so much so that (we will see later) he doesn't consider himself worthy of Reira. He also uses people because people use him (for succes, for make money...). Who are the only people he doesn't try to manipulate? Ren and Yasu, not because he can't do it, he doesn't do it because they respect him, they're the only people who are not hostile and are not intimidated by him. He acts like a bag of shit, right, he doesn't even seem to try to be loving, but the truth is he doesn't try because he thinks so bad of himself that he thinks he isn't capable of it, I think he feels like a complete failure. As for Hachi, he believes he has been used and betrayed (he didn't realize i had been dumped), he knows full well that she doesn't love him and that she's with him only because she can't afford to raise a child (let's point out that in Japan child custody is always exclusive, the other parent (usually the father) has no obligations towards the children, maintenance is almost never given and in any case is ridicolous). No wonder he doesn't show love towards her. As well, the "rape" scene, he wasn't faking kindness towards her, but he's completely unable to deal with her rejection.

Except I don't think he doesn't show Hachi love because he thinks she is using him. There isn't anything in the anime or manga that implies he believes she planned this for monetary gain. In fact Takumi specifically goes against this when Naoki mentions that possibility. I think he treats Hachi the way he does for a multitude of reasons primarily having to do with his upbringing and how he feels about love and his own ideas about him being tainted/not someone who should have or is capable of a true companionship which is why he compartmentalizes people.
