Well, at least personally I find that a loot of puzzles are hard to do when described rather than something that is actually in front of you. Spatial reasoning is rather difficult with words alone, which is one of the reasons we tend to play on a map these days rather than theater of the mind. Not to say that's bad or anything, just it's easier to picture.

I've seen GMs bring physical props and games to the table for puzzles, and I do like how engaging that seems to be!
