If Beethoven were alive today, he’d be a metal sweep picking god muhahaha!

This sweeping Etude uses one of classical composers most dramatic chords, the Neapolitan! (not talking about ice cream)

🛑 WHAT IS THE NEAPOLITAN?

In the key of Am, The Neapolitan is built on the flat second scale degree Bb and resolves to the V chord E. In bar one of the etude below, I outline an A minor chord, A-C-E. These notes are executed using the C Form of the CAGED SYSTEM.

In bar two, the Neapolitan chord is played, containing the notes Bb-D and F. Can you feel the drama!? This jarring sound demands immediate attention from the listener by violating the key signature

Dissonance must be resolved with consonance to be palatable to our ears. Achieve resolution with the Neapolitan chord by resolving it to the V or E major muhahahaha!

🛑 NEW COURSE ALERT!!!

My new course on Neoclassical Metal Theory is coming next week! I'm teaching the concepts from one of my most popular shorts, Classical Music Is Just Heavy Metal Before Electricity. It's a ground breaking course, covering scales, chords, voice leading, drone technique, my BBC method, Big PP strategy and how to work your MEAT practice technique!
