What’s your favorite 0-0-0 song? Playing the same pitch repeatedly is known as “droning”, or using “pedal tones.” This compositional technique is the foundation of nearly every hit song. Here’s the science behind why beating the sh!t out of your open strings sounds incredible

1. Simplicity

By reinforcing the ROOT pitch, we send a clear message to our listeners. Use a drone anytime you learn a new scale, chord progression, or compositional technique. This provides our ears with context to absorb the emotional data of new ideas
