One of the most exotic scales is used in Dick Dale's iconic "Miserlou." You might recognize the fast alternate picking piece from the film "Pulp Fiction" or as surf music in other movies. Great exercise to work on your right hand picking technique. 

Miserlou uses the E Byzantine Scale, or Double Harmonic Major Scale. 

E-F-G#-A-B-C-D# 

It contains two augmented second jumps, similar to the Harmonic Minor Scale....Except the Harmonic Minor Scale only has one aug second jump. 

Try E and F chords over an E bass to write music in this exotic mode.
