Main Map: Tea Garden Puzzle

Sorry this took a few days to come out! This map took quite a few renders!

THE PUZZLE:

This puzzle works best with 4 players; the idea behind this puzzle is that the players need to figure out the numerical values of each mechanism and which combinations reveal the stones between islands.

Each mechanism and stone has a numerical value; the numerical value of each mechanism is indicated by the number of bricks surrounding the mechanism. (E.G. 2 bricks means the mechanism’s value is 2, 3 bricks = 3, etc.)

The stones’ numerical values are 1 greater than the mechanism that they lead to. The values are shown in the image below. The lime green text indicates the stone’s value. The white circle and red text indicates the nearest mechanisms value.

When the players rotate multiple mechanisms the cumulative total of the mechanisms trigger stones of equal value. (E.G. the 2 mechanism + the 3 mechanism = the 5 stone. The 1 mechanism + the 2 mechanism + the 5 mechanism = the 8 stone.)

I recommend player’s movement drops down to 0 if they try and just cross the water (5ft if they dash)

Solution:
4 players can solve this puzzle in 11 moves (solution provided below)
5 players in 8

I’ll be using the legend below to write “formulas” on how to solve it. I’ll be using parentheses to indicate a player triggering a mechanism. The hyphen afterward indicates movement.

E.G.
pA(m1) + pC(m8) = s9 - pB to m8

or

Player A triggers mechanism 1 while Player C triggers mechanism 8. Stone 9 is revealed. Player B moves to mechanism 8.

Legend:

  • pA = Player A
  • pB = Player B
  • pC = Player C
  • pD = Player D
  • m1 = Mechanism 1
  • m2 = Mechanism 2
  • m3 = Mechanism 3
  • m4 = Mechanism 4
  • m5 = Mechanism 5
  • m6 = Mechanism 6
  • m7 = Mechanism 7
  • m8 = Mechanism 8
  • s5 = Stone 5
  • s6 = Stone 6
  • s7 = Stone 7
  • s8 = Stone 8
  • s9 = Stone 9

Steps:

  • pC(m2) + pD(m3) = s5 - pA and pB to m4
  • pD(m3) + pB(m4) = s7 - pA to m6
  • pC(m2) + pB(m4) = s6 - pA to m5
  • pA(m5) = s5 - pC to m4
  • pD(m3) + pA(m5) = s8 - pB to m7
  • pA(m5) + pC(m4) = s9 - pB to m8
  • pA(m5) = s5 - pD to m4
  • pB(m8) = s8 - pC to m7
  • pA(m5) + pD(m4) = s9 - pC to m8
  • pB(m8) = s8 - pD to m7
  • pB(m8) + pC(m1) = s9 - pA and pD to m8

Exclusive Map: Misty Garden
A heavy mist falls upon this stone garden. Can your players fight when their visibility drops to zero?
