I'm really interested to see what you end up using for lighting. I'm in the early stages of trying to work out a method to quickly generate a lot of scenes in DAZ for my VN and lighting has been really slowing me down. I've used DAZ for a while but most of what I've worked on were single rendered images. I got used to designing my lights from the ground up for each scene. This is fine for a single image but when I'm trying to setup 8 to 10 scenes a day it's just way too time consuming. I've recently started creating a group inside of the character for their personal lighting similar to what you described. It has helped but I'd still love to see what others are doing to try and improve things even more. :D
