Progress Report - July 23, 2024 (Patreon)

Hello, everyone!

I apologize for being so late with this week's Progress Report. If you follow my Twitter, then you know that on Monday I finished all of the narrative blocking for the Pharmmetra video, which has currently clocked in at 14:57.

I wanted to get all of the material sent out for dubbing before making this post, but things just keep getting more complicated. So I finally decided to just make the post as-is.

For the opening sequence, I rendered out special versions of the animation that only have Pharah+Emily and Symmetra+Tracer, to keep things simple for the voice actresses during dubbing (EG to avoid getting distracted by having two different sex animations on screen at the same time). There are several J-cuts in the video which required me to extend the loops in post, so the voice actresses will have enough material to dub over, so I can do the J-cut in post. There are several B-roll shots, where there is sex happening in the background but the camera shows something else - I needed to fill out those B-roll shots with A-roll footage (EG more sex animation) for the voice actresses to keep pace with, since while they can't be seen in those B-roll shots, they can still be heard.

All of those alternate shots and alternate compositions in Davinci Resolve have been where I spent all day. And then, just before realizing I need to just pause and write this post, I updated my subtitle tool to be able to spit out individual videos for each character involved, so that voice actresses won't get distracted by lines that don't belong to them, EG the Tracer voice actress getting distracted by the subtitles for Emily, or Pharah, or Tracer. Each voice actress only needs to worry about their own lines, and having a separate subtitle video for each character ensures that.

So I hoped to have everything out for dubbing yesterday, failed to get it all out by today, but should definitely have it all out by tomorrow. I hope.
