That "tree spell" is one they used quite a bit in the campaign once Keyleth reached a high enough level. It's a spell exclusive to Druids called "Transport via Plants". She can open a portal in a tree, connecting to a tree she's seen before anywhere in the world(as long as it's on the same plane of existence). When you reach high levels in the game, there are multiple ways to cut down on travel time :)

BTW I would suggest not watching the Trailer, as it might contain some spoileresque stuff and its definitely better to watch it for real when it drops!
