I won't spoil anything to come, but Farscape is like any other science-fiction series: its first season has brilliant highs, crushing lows, and a few filler episodes here and there as the production team works out the kinks. Stay tuned, there's plenty of great stuff on the way. The one advantage Farscape has on other shows is its awareness of how important character development/interaction is in advancing plotlines. It took TOS half a season to figure this out (thanks to Gene Coon) and it took TNG two full seasons before it got on board (thanks to Michael Piller). The Farscape team knew it from the jump and kept peppering the episodes with character details and interactions that deepened and grew, making even the filler eps more fun and rewarding.

Lots of fun character moments in this episode. And John has his first real glimpse of hope that he might actually be able to get home. Things are really starting to kick off now... inciting incidents around every corner!
