Arlong's actor does a good job in the role, I also think he may be the only one in the show who does the character's original laugh (Shaahahaha).

I actualy believe the LA version did a better job of tying Baratie with Arlong Park. Don Krieg is arguably the most forgettable villain of the anime, even Kuro gets more love than him. Having Arlong show up to take the map and kill Luffy and him rough up Zeff as well as show he's an evil douche, even if he's still a consequence of the hatred between humans and Fishmen perpetuated by the ignorance of humanity. It also builds the inevitable conflict between the Strawhats and Arlong pirates. Nami's motives also feel more well developed since she leaves with Arlong to save Baratie and Luffy(?). It's vague, but I wonder if she told Sanji that Luffy may need some aid after she gets them off Baratie. Either way, it feels better fleshed out than she just abandons them in the middle of Krieg's rampaging. I also love that Arlong's music has a sort of thuggish feel to it alongside the pirate elements, it tells you he's the big threat of Season 1. Also,the inclusion of Buggy has been amazing. He's the wildcard that pays off for both parties XD
