Fighting power was there for Sting, unfortunately for him the fighting spirit wasn't though. Still make no mistake, had he actually gunned for them, there's very little doubt he would've won. Now the 30 mil- i mean the title of number 1 guild is the gangs! Yeah thats whats important, ahem. Will say, some people do mark this as the peak of the series and also beginning of the slow decline of Fairy Tail, firstly and foremostly in the inconsistency of powerscaling. Take Laxus for example, love him to death but he should not have won that match, Jura was described as the strongest human on the continent, below only the top 5 saints who aren't actually human. Does that make Laxus the strongest human now? Where did he get that power from? And if we can assume Erza and Natsu rival or even surpass him does that make them the strongest? You kinda see how that rabbit hole spirals out of control when you give it the slightest bit of thought

Sting earned my respect here. He could have easily won, but it would be an empty unearned victory for him. Plus seeing his childhood heroes stand tall at the end was nostaglic and reminded him one of the reasons FT remained at the top. He and Rogue have been humbled. And I agree, Lector being alive and returned to Sting was touching. I think with Jiemma out of the guild, Sting will make it a better guild and become friendlier with the other guilds. Of course unless Minerva has not learned her lesson like the twin dragon slayers have. It also still cracks me up how Jura one shots Ogra after all the shit talking he's done. I also do believe he held back a little against Laxus. Not to say he went easy on him, but Laxus proved he was worthy. Minerva's fatal mistake was angering Erza. Her actions against Lucy, Milliana, and Kagura were dirty and cruel. She's still a tough cookie to crack though, no denying her cunning and strength was to be recognized, but Erza is just better. :) But I believe the biggest mistake they made was not having good comraderie. Everyone was out for themselves aside from Sting and Rogue(They stood by each other and their exceeds. Ogra and Rufus laughed at their loss and wanted to hold it over them and Minerva manipulated Sting, she was going to puppet him as she did not have his best interests at heart. Fairy Tail is the opposite, they're a team, a family with unshakeble loyalty to one another and they support and uplift each other. But now its onto confronting the Eclispe plan and prepping for the horde of 10000 scaled chickens!
