i love the second trial so much as a counter to subaru, having it be a trial that shows an alternate present that you have to come to terms with which for subaru is multiple trials since because of his time travel shenanigans he has way too many horrifying presents, because if we are being real the option of subaru passing the trials was in all of our minds whenever t hey talk about emilia having to do them but having the trial something impossible for subaru to do actually makes you feel like "holy shit emilia is ouir only hope"

Yeah, love the fact that the 2nd trial is just impossible for Subaru to pass due to the overwhelming amount of realities he's skipped by using RBD. Actually gives a point to having Emilia do it

The more the episodes go on the more you start to realize that the Witches simply can't be put under monikers of 'good' or 'evil'. They're simply embodiments of their aspects, with a little touch of their old personalities, sometimes those aspects do good things, sometimes they do bad, but they're all in self-service to them. Daphne is a perfect example, she created the Three Great Mabeasts because she never wanted the people to go starving, yet her gluttony impacted her creation so much that it devoured more than it was devoured. Granted, at least they are mostly honest about it, gotta give them credit for being true to themselves.

I will never understand people who call this season bad cause the plot comes to a screeching halt, in the first half of this season, we meet subarus parents and why he is the way he is, we meet the witch of greed, we learn there is more to rosewaal than meets the eye, then we get to see who all the witches are. I'd say thats a big boost through the plot. We even see Satella!

Yeah I wanted to mention that it is entirely ambiguous if the realities Subaru saw were in fact real or not. We can't really say one way or the other unless someone read the light novel and revealed it here. I hope that didn't happen, I don't want that part spoiled for me if it is real.

Echidna has been quite up front with Subaru about being a veeery evil witch. I still love her though and would have probably made that contract in a heartbeat. She wants to use and be used by Subaru.

This and episode prior made me think of Steins;Gate and how in there Okabe kept time leaping to find the true/good ending to save both Kurisu and Mayuri. Okabe and Subaru are kindred souls. (With the exception that Okabe doesn't die)
