Set up for the next big arc. Zou is kind of that bridge to settle down from Dressrosa's intensity. Kind of like walking a lap before finishing the second mile. The next big arc is quite different from the usual One Piece arcs. In a good way too. :)

Zou is such a good arc for the fact I believe it is only 25-30 chapters and after having over 100 chapters in dressrosa it made a lot of fans get over arc fatigue

Just to put it into perspective, it's been 93 episodes since Sanji's Group left Dressrosa for Zou. So that was almost 2 years in episode time that the crew was broken up, In One Piece time....it was only like 2 weeks since they set foot on Dressrosa for the first time and the rest of the crew made landfall on Zou before these episodes. 😁 So you just spent give or take 125 episodes for a 2 week time period. And almost all of it took place in one day in One Piece time on Dressrosa. GARCHU! 🤣 ...And then crying Nami..... TO BE CONTINUED. Ugh....

I think it's even less, the wiki says 23. But you're right, a short arc like this after a really long one really helps with pacing imo.
