I'm not sure but I don't think America had even been founded around the time this Anime takes place, much less baseball invented. Little interesting fact about Baseball in Japan. It was first introduced by an American Horace Wilson, who was serving as an English Professor at Tokyo University in 1872. He thought his students needed more exercise, so Baseball seemed a perfect choice. It wasn't until 2003 that he earned his place in the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame though.

I'm super late but I'm really happy you enjoyed this one. One of my favorite anime episodes ever, I grew up watching baseball with my dad and seeing the game turn into a deathmatch with Mugen at the helm was hilarious
