It's the 60s everywhere there are college students protesting. And Japan is no different. Also don't think the gynecologist appointment is about birthcontrol. (Again 60s and even today the pill remains hard to get in Japan). I think it's to check to make sure that Yurika's not pregnant. Which honestly I don't think is likely, since I don't remember anything that actually indicates that Brother Jun and her shared anything more than a kiss.
