Piper hadn’t really thought anything was out of the ordinary when her friend Amanda asked her to watch her apartment for a few days. She knew her friend had been going through a bit of a rough patch ever since she’d had failed again to conceive a child, so it hadn’t been too surprising to her when Amanda had asked her to watch the house for a night while her husband and her went away for the evening. Piper didn’t really want to admit to the fact that she basically had no plan for a Friday night, so she tried to act a little nonchalant as she accepted the task after “checking her schedule”.

Everything seemed totally normal, nothing out of the ordinary at least until Amanda and her husband were headed out the door. It was about right before she left, Amanda turned around with a somewhat serious look on her face and told her firmly that she wanted her to stay out of the room at the end of the hall. This confused Piper as the room at the end of the hall had simply been a private gym for as long as she’d known her friend. (Over 5 years.)

“How come?” Piper had inevitably asked.

“I can’t tell you.” Came her friend’s short and quite unhelpful response. “Just stay out of there, got it?”

Piper was very confused but agreed. It was her house after all, but she couldn’t help the swirling possibilities that were now moving around in her head at what could possibly be in that room. Was it a salon? A grow room? A sex dungeon? Every possibility seemed kinda silly, but she was dying now to know.

If Amanda hadn’t told her to stay out she probably wouldn’t have thought twice about not going their private gym, but now that she had specifically told her not to go in there... of course that’s all she wanted to do. Could anyone blame her?

Piper acted totally fine though as she hugged her friends goodbye and told them not to worry. That she’d take care of any problem that night.

For a while, Piper tried to respect her friend’s wishes. Even though the room right at the end of the hallway appeared to be calling to her anytime she caught a glimpse of it. She did anything she could think of to distract herself. Cook dinner, watch a movie, smoke a little weed, feed the cat, water the plants... but finally, she couldn’t take it anymore.

She just needed to take a peak.

She made it down to the end of the hallway, grabbed the door handle, and opened it. She wasn’t sure what she was truly expecting to find, but the sight that greeted her was not it.

A Nursery!

A fancy looking and expensive nursery, but definitely a nursery. The room was much warmer than the rest of the house, and there was a strange scent inside that Piper could not place no matter how hard she tried. The room was gorgeous for a nursery. There was a chandelier, a crib, a changing table, a mountain of toys ready to be played with. She’d always known that her friends were wealthy, but this seemed excessive.

Is this why they didn’t want her coming in here? Was Amanda actually pregnant after all and didn’t want anyone to know yet? Did they think that if she knew she would blab? It all seemed a little bit odd to her.

Right above the crib though, was a large letter P. Piper smiled to herself and pondered what the babies name could be. Is it possible that they named the baby after her? And they’d asked her not to come in here because they wanted that to be a surprise for her? Her and Amanda were close, but she hadn’t thought she was her closest friend. Maybe she was!

But then, something much much weirder began to happen. The more she looked... the more the room seemed to be... shifting. The walls seemed to be changing colors a little, the crib suddenly appeared much bigger than it had before, did it even feel like... something on her was shifting too? Maybe it was the weed she’d had earlier, maybe all of the sudden it had hit her really hard and was making her hallucinate a little. Weed had never done that to her before, but she didn’t know nearly as much about drugs as she pretended to.

Piper tried to keep herself steady, but a strange wave that felt a lot like dizziness and nausea swept over her and brought the confused girl to her knees even as she felt the floor underneath her seeming to change from a soft rug to a carpet of sorts. The girl tried to keep herself focused, but as her vision got blurry she couldn’t think about much else besides the fact that maybe she should have listened to Amanda after all.
