That was awesome and really interesting! Thanks for that! Rainbow, were you possibly thinking of "Apt Pupil", which was a movie based on a Steven King story?

Haunty

Very cool. I'd be interested in hearing about my favorite song Midnight, it sounds very upbeat compared to most of the other songs.

This was really cool. And btw, the 4th song you were thinking of on violet was horror show ;p

This was just like sitting on your tour bus and listening to you all interact 🖤💜 I had so many questions about your music - but I was enjoying you banter far too much 😊 thank you for doing this for your fans 🖤💜

Awesome, my favorite TBM song! I absolutely never get tired of listening to Blue. And the video is flat out stunning. Thanks!

Anonymous

This is very interesting. Really like the talk about song crafting and equipment used. And also the honesty when it comes to doubt and insecurity in the beginning of your career.

Anonymous

im curious why did you decide to bring back Remember Me and To Die For, for the Walking With Strangers album?

Anonymous

Do you remember when Owen puts the mask that I mad in Blue's bridge in Rio de Janeiro? AMAZING!

Anonymous

I remember the first truly new TBM sound I ever heard was a "Blue Demo" of the instrumental bridge that winds down at the end instead of going off at the rest of the song. I had been a fan of all the songs I heard at nothingandnowhere.com and my friend gave me all the demo mp3s (including a demo of lover's end), but Blue just blew me away! Also, Chibi's happy dance for getting a new soda was super pure :) The dynamic between you guys is so fun. I've always loved hanging out with you, even if it's after the show when you're packing up. all the time I got to spend with you for the Looking Glass video, the various meet and greets, and the UYS studio listen in Canada... I just want to be able hang out with you lovable nerds! <3, meatballhead

Chibi you're so funny lol <3

That was such a great review on just one of your many great songs!! Looking forward to one day hearing about two songs that come to my mind that just give me absolute goosebumbs everytime. "Alibis" and "Under The Stairs". And just out of curiousity,is there one song that each band member has that just carries their spirit to a whole other level when they hear and or play it? <3 <3

You have my vote for talking about the more technical side of song production, and bits like the can opening sample, in greater depth! I have a question regarding the '14 studio walkthrough... did the PSR-36 ever make its way into any song, or is it more of a "fun" synth to have around, and not really used in any serious capacity?

Anonymous

I know you were at the Under Your Spell studio listen :-)... were you hiding somewhere at the Diamonds one / March 2020?

Anonymous

Can't wait to see more of these, exactly what I wanted to see on the patreon! Also wondering if you would talk a bit about album artwork, how you come up with themes and work with artists to realise them?

Anonymous

Bury some subliminal burps in the next mix. *BURPS YoU WiLl BuY aLl oF ouR mErCH*

I would also love to hear something about the albums artwork! The process and everything!

What an amazimg song Blue!! Love every part of it, same with the video! I am always very curious about the lyric process, you already tell a story with the instruments, so how can you all manage to go through the lyrics and nail it even better? I imagine all of you having a brainstorming full of amazing ideas, maybe something to do a video of? 😍🤩

That was awesome you guys. I might of kind of focused on the fact you used a GT3 !! I still have my GT3, don't use it much now as moved to a Line 6. Chibi's burps are awesome as we'll :) Need to think of what other songs would be good to hear you playthru, so many to choose from. Would love to know the story behind the different mixes of Shallow Grave. In The Dark would make an awesome playthru as well .. any secrets on guitar sounds as well :)

Thoroughly enjoyed this. Really loved the indepth bts from Rainbow especially on how it came together. A songwriter and producer myself and you guys are one of my biggest inspirations so it's really great to hear about the moving parts - thank you! Always leaving these videos with new ideas 💡 The can in Blue is amazing. I never would have realised. I always thought it was a bitcrushed synth sweep. Amazing!

Blue is the most TBM song, there's no other song like that. It’s so iconic and automatically fell in love with the band... Imagica/N&N/Violet is my favorite TBM era.

Loved Chibi's socks and the part where Rainbow imitated her "Oh, fuck off!":D My favorite part was though when Sara talked about her insecurities during the recordings. You know, that's why I love the music you guys make, because you can capture all those emotions I feel, but it's because you feel them too. And when I listen to TBM, I feel power rising inside of me, that's really great. It would be nice if you'd talk about the cover songs (The Neverending Story, Open Your Heart, I Think We're Alone Now) or about my favorite song of yours, Nothing and Nowhere.

when are you guys gonna put out a live CD or DVD?

There is a live DVD and CD both titled Show and Tell. You can find them here: DVD https://www.metropolis-records.com/product/3872/show-and-tell-dvd CD https://www.metropolis-records.com/product/3812/show-and-tell

The title of the movie is 'In a Glass Cage'.

Blue was my first song - it's how I found out about you guys 10 years ago. And one funny moment -I thought there were two (!) singers singing.... Because I don't even imagined how this clear and light voice can be so dark and dangerous)

Anonymous

I love blue! So neat to hear some of the creative detailed behind the song! I also would fully prefer to watch the bands reaction to the full song without the cut added in (keep the song overlay though) can’t wait to hear about the next song! My vote is on Pins and Needles 🤩🤩🤩

Thanks for sharing those insights on the development and recording of, Blue. My introduction to TBM came when I heard, Kill the Lights, on Pandora. It was soon after that when I began searching for more TBM stuff online and stumbled across the, Blue, video on YouTube. And what a video it was! Blew my socks right off! To this day I still consider the video to be a masterpiece.

seahorsemaxine

i have never heard you all in conversation, it's a bit like being with a bunch of friends! 💖

I don't think anyone would complain about a rerecord of blue.

Also for anyone curious, the coke can happens at 3:05.

Anonymous

Blue is what started it all for me. I just heard the soda pop! Neato💜

This might be the coolest thing ever going through songs. I think as a fan and as a musician, knowing more about lyrical meanings and musical compositions of these tracks just enhance it that much more for me. Bravo and can't wait for the next one, and the one after that, and after that, and... Shameless ask/suggestion: There are a few songs out there that are absolute gems that don't get love during the live shows that would love to know more about... cough... cough... SCIENCE.

Anonymous

This was a fab review, I loved heading the tech side. I remember being sucked in to your sound deep because of the jangles chimes you use, 💜💜

Anonymous

Is the burp going to become a recurring segment? 😅😅

Anonymous

I love these kind of segments!! Looking forward to some video break downs as well. I remember when Chibi had lost her voice and at the Atlanta show (Masquerade!) she had her voice coach there and she gave her the nod to go ahead and sing Blue. I thought for sure she wouldn’t because of the recent vocal issue but Chibi you did great!

Anonymous

That was very interesting. Thank you. “Blue” was one of my very first songs I ever heard from you. I would love to hear a segment like this for “In The Dark”. My very first song I heard from you nearly 6 years ago

Anonymous

I'd love to hear more of what Rainbow referred to as the "minutiae" of the songs, especially in regards to the recording process! The early Birthday Massacre albums were a huge part of why I got interested in recording. And here I am typing this, 15 years later, sitting in my recording studio, so obviously a pretty influential and important thing in my life!

Anonymous

In the Dark was also my first hearing from them and I too would like to hear this kind of discussion on it.

Anonymous

Loving this <3

GIE

This was really interesting! I'd love to hear more about the lyrics, especially Chibi's contributions and thoughts. Your lyrics are so poetic and evocative, and Chibi imbues them with so much emotion!
