Nanami built different

Rice

Lmao “this is going way better than I thought”- a Goodwin quote that will go down in history

Bighead

Ah yes, let the thirsting begin!! 😂 Also the more I see Mei Mei and Ui Ui the more uneasy I feel!!

Swanlady

I'm not even that invested in JJK, but it's been funny to watch how that Nanami scene blew up the internet over the last couple of days. Even his VA thanked everyone for the support.

IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ME

So many moving parts keep falling into place. By the end of the season, you will probably have 5 or more episodes that can rival the Gojo sealing episode or a couple of the ones in the flashback. One of my all time favorite manga arcs ever.

Jake White

Yeah they left out a single line from the manga that kinda solidified and made it 100% clear there, but Ijichi is gonna be alright. In the manga, Nanami specifically says “I did what I could to patch him up and he started out as training to be a sorcerer, so he’s stronger than he looks.” So for pacing’s sake I guess they assumed that the necessary context clues were already present without him needing to say the ‘he’s stronger than he looks’ line. Not complaining or whining about their choice, just explaining why it might have come across a bit more vague to anime onlys than might’ve been expected.

Jake White

Also it’s interesting how optimistically you’re speaking about the situation so far, with fake Geto, Jogo, Choso, Mahito, AND now Toji all still present and active in Shibuya lol. (Plus the red squid cursed spirit that’s always been around Hanami and Jogo as part of their trinity, but we haven’t seen him yet so not quite on the danger radar like the others are, for now at least lol)

Pulp

you know shit like this is a spoiler right

Jake White

Lol totally understandable. Just had to make sure you knew, to help ease the nerves a bit lol

Jake White

Genuinely so curious to see how they adapt the rest of the arc in 5 episodes considering there’s still like 35+ish manga chapters and sooo much material left to go through lol. Truly the arc that keeps on giving

Rice

Can you explain to me how this is a spoiler? I made mention to literally 0 future events or characters.

Jake White

OHHH, I had misunderstood the ‘18 episodes’ announcement from earlier this year as 18 episodes in total for season 2, instead of for the shibuya arc specifically lol. Whoops, my bad! That makes a lot more sense though, good. Was starting to worry about how the pacing would play out lol

Chris Sharpe

Oooh gotcha. Yeah, you get 11 episodes of peak. Obviously all of it will be phenomenal, but I think the last 6-8 episodes may be one of the greatest stretches of episodes in anime in years.

Chris Sharpe

Also, Toji mentioned his body was special when he took control. It’s likely that the fact that he produces no cursed energy is why the ritual when kapoot.

Jake White

No doubt. Honestly I kinda view Shibuya as three separate acts; the first - Gojo sealing act, the current second - immediate aftermath and scramble act, and the final - peak act. And I personally would give them a 9.5, 9.5+, and 10 respectively lol

If we're doing rankings after gojo being sealed, I believe the woman in the flashback arc this season who talked to Geto about how to get rid of curses is also special grade. There is also Yuta from JJK0 who is special grade so those 2 would be on a level closer to Gojo and Geto. Nanami is a 1st grade so 1 level below (and with the team fight versus Mahito in season 1 Yuji is on a pretty similar to Nanami). So I think with all that in mind, Nanami was just genuinely using his logic when telling Nobara to stay behind as he knows that whatever can capture Gojo would have to be crazy powerful.

Jake White

While those 2 are higher ranked and are definitely stronger than him, Nanami is the one here presently in Shibuya that comes closest to being considered a number 2 to Gojo. Naobito Zenin might technically be ranked a tiny bit higher and could potentially be stronger, but he’s also clearly not interested in any sorcerers outside of his clan and certainly not in leading. So Nanami by default kinda falls into a forced defacto leadership role for everyone here now that Gojo’s out of the picture. But with that said, I do still absolutely agree that his refusal to allow Nobara to join him was genuinely just based on his threat assessment of the dangers left to come.

Rayn

I didn't catch it the first time I watched it, but they cut in Nanami's old teammate when he was looking at Ijichi. It was supert quick but a nice detail.

Emman Reed

damn I love how invested you are haha. I'm enjoying this show so much and the art style is so great. Tomorrow night idk if I'll be sleeping haha

Chris Sharpe

Yeah, the thing about Gojo and his position as “The Strongest” is that it has less to do with the fact that he is actually the strongest and more his unique role in Jujutsu society as a protector and deterrent. In a society as feudal and tribalistic as Jujutsu society, usually strong sorcerers simply align themselves with their clan or their own interests. So I believe that Nanami is a more worthy successor of Gojo.

its not a specific spoiler but you are spoiling how the rest of the arc is gonna go by saying this... its not hard to make assumptions now as to what is going to happen based on your comment.
