Honestly, I wish I could just snap my fingers and get the adaptation of the rest of the manga. At this point in the series, Kita was easily in my top 5. By the end of the series, he’s contending with some others for even being in the top 10. I have made clear that I ADORE Kita and think he is absolutely phenomenal and one of the most inspirational characters to me. Despite this, the reason he drops so much is not because he is lacking, but because there is so much jaw-dropping development for so many other characters in the future. Hinata is the main one, but there are so many characters your wouldn’t expect that get so much development (which is why I won’t mention them for spoilers). Everything so far has been a 9/10, everything after the anime is an easy 10/10.

Everytime you brought up the discussion of genuis and talent throughout the series all I could think was “Don’t worry! Just let them cook!” Kita is just soo magnificent. I don’t think I ever fell in love with a character that fast then I did when his introduction chapter came out. The whole fandom was in shambles for him and we still to this day continue to be. The power this man holds in us! I don’t even need to add to this lil monologue at the end because it’s just perfect on its own. That’s why in the fandom it is almost an insult if we call one of the characters “talented” or a “genuis” because it misses soo much of the point of the series. It’s also great that Oikawa gets featured for the first time in the season for THIS episode because he was one of the first characters that brought this theme up. Also funny thing. When 4x22 finished at the very end for the ‘next time’ clip for 4x23 it was just Oikawa’s ear with the head phone in. Anime Twitter went into absolute hysteria. He trended like crazy and all you saw on your timeline was his damn ear all week 😂 He has such a choke hold on the fandom too. Since his introduction and especially this game, we have seen Atsumu put his absolute being into a set. He will do everything he can with his body in order to create the best set for his spikers. He wants his spikers to match his passion and love of volleyball and give their all in their spike, because HE puts his all into his set. That’s why “I’m moved, Shoyo-kun” is soo beautiful. You’ve talked about how soo often Hinata doesn’t get recognition and yet here, here we have the number 1 best high school setter in Japan, Atsumu be moved by him. Hinata who from the very beginning in season 1 episode 4 said to Kageyama “I’ll take any toss I can get. Gratefully.” This energy and love is what Atsumu chases with his spikers. The full line Atsumu says in the manga is “Even if it’s short or long, or too close to the net. As long as the setter has given it their utmost, he’ll take it all. I’m moved, Shoyo-kun” 😭
