The Oddities (Patreon)
Content
This weeks bonus content at the oddities! A series of, well... it's hard to describe!
They don't follow the rules. They're outside of the System. They are strange and bizarre entities. In no particular order:
A living hurricane, a perpetual storm moving across the oceans forevermore. Maybe it's feeling merciful and will listen to your pleas for mercy, and change course around you.
Maybe it's bored, and wants to see you sink.
A flock of [Redacted] - a bunch of avians? Dinosaurs? The exact creature keeps shifting, different everytime they strike - who are a single hive-mind. What one sees, they all see. What one knows, they all know. For they are all a single being. And they hunger.
The River-Snake. It's a long, winding river, that's also a snake. Likes to sleep for centuries in one place, then one day get up, and move somewhere else. Imagine you wake up one day, and your river is slithering off somewhere else. RIP the local economy. RIP everything in its path. It's a river, how do you even try to kill a river!?
Genie. Find the lamb, rub it well, and get a lawyer, because there are three wishes heading your way. Can't kill anyone, can't make people fall in love and can't bring anyone back from the dead.
Also no loop holing the three wishes thing, or the rules, in any way, shape, or form. Genie likes a well-written wish. Genie does not like circumventing the rules, and will make his displeasure known. After all, there's nothing in the Genie code that says "Don't murder the wish-maker."
Dungeon: Is this thing alive? Is it aware? No matter how you slice it, endless levels of monsters seemingly generated out of ether, along with treasure chests filled with mimics.
It plays hell on the local economy, a faucet of seemingly never-ending gold and equipment? How does this thing work anyways!? Are these swords and shields, coins and iron bars legit, or is Dungeon spreading them for her own nefarious purposes?
Galleon: A massive Victorian-era (There hasn't been a Victorian era yet!?) battleship, with a full-on jungle inside it. How is it sailing? Who's steering? What does it want? Where did it come from?
The massive underwater plant-thing. The most "reasonable" of all the oddities. A plant, mostly underground at the bottom of [Redacted]. Hundreds of barbed strands of tentacles/kelp rise up to the surface, attacking and eating those that pass through it - and over it.
Could it be eating more than just fish and unlucky sailors?
A flying island - Beware falling rocks! Could some lucky people end up building a settlement up there? Could enough food be grown, or is it too high up?
The oddities!
I will fully confess - if I think of more cool oddities, I won't hesitate to include them.
