A little back story is necessary, as most of you have noticed i have started releasing mods every week in October. Ever since then i have managed to keep this cadence, which i do not know of anyone else who does so.

As for how i managed this, well sadly i did not invent a time dilation machine or magic. The truth was that my employer decided to reduce our work time and salary due to decreased allocation of orders. I work in IT so for those that had a clear view of the finances of the company, knew that this was BS. Anyhow, the person who owns and manages the company had started to make some seriously detrimental decisions a year or two back.

This reduction in day job work hours and pay gave me the opportunity to focus more on creating mods, which i like to do more anyhow. Luckily, you guys stepped up, even without knowing the reasons for the increased frequency of releases. The amount of pledges has been steadily increasing since October. At this time it is about three times what it was before.

Which brings us to today. Short story, the owner of the company decided to fire multiple people from the department i work at, including me. The reasons cited are the same as when our work amount was reduced, decreasing orders. I will not go into details, but suffice to say this move basically cripples the department that i worked at, which will result in significantly more loss of income than our salary. Not to mention to pathetic and underhanded way the whole process was done.

So whats next?

I will take this "opportunity" to fully commit to making mods, meaning this will be my full time job. The frequency of releases will remain weekly. Previous to this i worked for about 4 hours at my day job and another 4-8 hours of my free time was used to making mods. Moving forward i will work 6-8 hours a day on mods. This will mean that i can finally get some decent amount of sleep :)

The next few months will be a trial period, as basically i have lost a bit more than half of my income. I will have to make some calculations and once that is done, i will create a new Goal here on Patreon. If that goal is reached in the next two or three months i will not look for a regular day job after the trial period.

TLDR version:

  • Since last October my day job employer halved my work time and pay.
  • Because of this i could release mods every week (i had more free time)
  • Today they fired me.
  • I will make mods full time from now on, for the next 2-3 months.
  • If in that period, my lost income from my day job is mitigated by the increase in pledges, i will not look for a day job. (new Patreon goal coming soon)
