After last years Ubisoft allegations I've saved a shitload of money not buying their shit games. No Hyperbole, FarCry 3 was MOSTLY made by Crytek, who were bought out half way through development, well closer to 85% of the way through, yeah Ubisoft took over Development and were responsible for the "second" boss, there are internal docs out there showing what happened, basically they felt Vaaz was "too comical" and had to add a "more serious villian" hence the End Game Boss... Whoever the fuck that was... I can't remember can you? Anyway since then they have LITERALLY rehashed the same game, FarCry 4 is just revaneered FarCry 3, when they "tried" to go different thtey made Primal, but that was just FarCry 4 10,000BC and was forgotten, FarCry 5 is FarCry 3 again and so is FarCry 6, it's rehash after reash, with tacked on gimmicks, the same as what they've done, only more extreme with Tom Clancy games. Watchdogs 3 was one gimmick, Every. Single. Video. Created about Watchdogs 3 was "Old Lady Ninjas", and once everyone did that, the game was garbage, every one got over it after 5 minutes and reviews showed it. Assassin's Creed COULD have been great, but they ran it into the ground as they did for Crysis once they took over Dev Crysis 3 was garbage compared to 1 and 2. This is the Reality of Ubisoft, they are Garbage when their garbage sttarts to show they buy their second/third party devs, make them Ubisoft, pump out a goood or at least decent game and then fuck the franchise into the ground. Activision is the same, remember when Activision just didn't pay the Creators of CoD? Not just Modern Warfare 2, these were the OG crators, they just stopped payingt hem for CoD: Modern Warfare 2 and then took over, hence why Modern Warfare 3 wasn't as good. Repeating many of he scenes and mechanics. These two companies are so similar, both in their way to make games and their deeds... and finally their crimes. Time to wake up people, Time to make a stand. Time to say no, my money is worth more then the same game over and over. As it stands I'vesaved thousands of dollars not buying these companies games, in fact I've gone back to play older games, good games, better class of games.

I'm so glad that Steph and the small handful of others on their team and like them are trying to keep this in the public eye. Anyone who complains that we should move on from this topic is clearly speaking from a highly misguided place of privilege, or is in fact someone who is intentionally perpetuating the violence against the staffs of these companies.

If you don't follow TYT you won't this but: OF COURSE!

Jason Youngberg

I've pretty much stopped buying video games completely since it seems like every company has problems. Instead I just play the ones I already bought.

Andrew L Butula

Fortunately you can make Skyrim into about eighteen different games if you know your way around modding. Plus the SkyWind and SkyBlivion teams may someday finish their work, which would be huge.

Andrew L Butula

Steph, Please keep doing what you're doing, because it's important. Someone needs to hold the abusers feet to the fire, and it seems as if the job has fallen to our favorite trash girl. I do get why people don't want to hear about the massive problems; a lot of people don't have a lot going for them, and if video games are a source of joy anything that looks to spoil that will obviously be seen as a massive threat, but they're wrong. Even if they don't stop buying, which they should at least consider, they need to be aware of the cost their pleasures inflict on other people.

Soi Born

Same boat as you. I already own all the good stuff and the new stuff is largely unfinished online only micro transaction trash that's the same crap every year... Lookin at you cod...

Leaf

"industry-leading" ... they really are hiding behind the hope that we believe everyone else is worse?

Munchman

One thing I wanna add to my above Rant... The only way THE ONLY WAY to stop bad games is to STOP BUYING THEM, time to stop fucken complaining and DO something, and the ONLY THING we can do is Stop Buying. Tthe Second they dont' make a Profit, they will HAVE to fix it... Also saying "This will never happen", well fine, then it won't but seriously BF 2042 is annoying PLAYERS, I saw Beta and was like Glad I didn't buy that like some Battlefield Simp Fuckhole and even if they "patch it" it won't matter I'll NEVER BUY IT, EVER! Edit: I was mant to say is only annoying PLAYERS coz they bought it, even after they KNEW it was gonna be shit... Then I was to reiterate that people shoulda stopped rfom buying it once they saw the Beta impressions online.

Dying Breed

It really speaks a lot about people when the simple thing of not buying a game is a daunting task. Just… don’t buy it. Why is that so hard?

Dying Breed

If you have the means, get into retro gaming. Not only are you still enjoying great games, but not a cent goes to companies like Activision. In fact, it most likely goes to local brick and mortar shops, which actually need the money because unlike Kotick, they can’t save by tax dodging.

Pete Spicer

There is one angle to this that a lot of people forget: there are dozens if not hundreds of people who work on these games who will be first in line come cost-saving time. If people don’t buy the games, it’s not them up top that will suffer first, it never ever is.

Munchman

I nevr forgot that, but why should I buy somehing that is shit and support continually being shit on just to feed another. Let me put it another way, I live in Adelaide South Australia, population 1.3 million, there are a ton of Stores, Food Outlets and Places of buinesses around me, am I supposed to prop them all up "or else they will suffer and their employees will be the first to lose their jobs?" of course not, I only buy CLOTHES from retailers I like, I only buy FOOD from those that make good food, I only go to places that TAKE CARE OF ME as a customer, to say, "Buy Battlefield 2042 coz EA ONCE made good games and if we don't support them the devs will lose their jobs" is Bullshit. A place I used to get Chinese food went under 3 months ago, it was sad, I had been going there for almost 20 years (well not for the 3 years I lived away from area), but in the end they stopped making good food, they cut the quality down over the years, so I stopped buying from them as often and eventually they closed. It sucks, they made the best rice, except on nights when they didn't and then it was inedible. Was I supposed to buy inedible food, just to keep them afloat? Sorry not meaning to sound like an attack but the issue is that wasting money on ANY product at all be it Video Games, Food, Groceries, Clothing just to "support others" means you prefer to look, eat and play shit then seek out good versions of that thing, for instance now that I don't buy games from Ubisoft and Activision Blizzard I support indie devs more who make wonderful games with heart and passion and GOOD Games!

Pete Spicer

No, if you don’t like it, obviously don’t buy it. But there are people who do like these games, and for them it is a more difficult ask to “stop buying them” especially because it is sadly more complicated than “stop buying them”. If they were indie companies where not buying them directly hit the bottom line it would be simpler.

Totally unrelated (I left my main comment on the video) but I had to ask: do you ever check out shirt punch? Today's daily shirts include Skeletor as the virgin Mary and that merman fish dude you show in your videos as the Little Mermaid. I kind of figured I should pass it along 😆

Dr. Judge, Private Eye

You CANNOT "boycott" a multinational, multimillion/billion dollar company. You simply cannot. Boycotts ONLY work on local-levels, I'm terribly sorry to say. What we ACTUALLY need is regulation and a government that gives a shit about enforcing laws. And it's not a "tomorrow" process, it's not a "next election" process, it's a MULTI-YEAR thing. And that's the problem. Culture warriors show up every election, meanwhile anyone who would oppose them just can't seem to find the time (and are often suppressed, and always on-purpose), but this notion that a few thousand people NOT BUYING a game that sells tens of millions of copies to people who DO NOT follow gaming news or enthusiast press (which is over 80% of the audience) is naive at best and condescendingly arrogant at worst because it implies the answer is simple, and that everyone else is just lazy and evil.

Munchman

I am not talking about a Boycott I'm talking about people waking up and realizing they are eating a shit burger. If These were the first games to be shit, fine, but these companies consistently bring out terrible games, year on year, sure one or two are decent but overall most are garbage. I never said peoel will stop buying but I also dont believe they will stop eating shitburgers, and ultimately I can only hope they eventually choke. The point of my post if anything is for the few peole who are willing to stop shovelling shit like Vanguard and 2042 into their mouths will instead invest in Indie games, a few thousand peole playing decent games is better then nothing.
