The age-old debate about easy modes has reared its ugly head again, this time due to conflicts in the streaming world. Should streamers get to play games on easier difficulties? Yes, obviously, but let's validate our own opinions in a video!

Also, Google Stadia gets a hot non-exclusive, and CaseyExplosion is here to recommend an indie game!

My thoughts towards people complaining about this: "But what about the FREE MARKET! If people like to watch people playing on easy mode, let them, why are you complaining, it's supply and demand! What are you, a communist? :o" Seriously though, most people watch streamers for their personality anyway and if someone's gameplay frustrates you, watch someone else, not like there's a lack of choice.

Sorry about mhr. From personal experience, we love the game so much that we get invested in others loving it too. This can result in conflicting issues but almost always is comes from a good place, even if not expressed as such. Like, there are meta ways to play with weapons (e.g., hammer and horn hits head, gs hits tail or head, dual wielders just suck, long sword users hit sides or really suck, pogo users bring down animals and mount them, hbg stands there and takes hits). But like, if you are alone, how you play doesn't matter much and most online games are fairly easy going. Just don't knock a hammer and gs user out of their supers.

Thinking about it, the Easy Mode debate reminds me of my genuine surprise at finding out that there were other men out there who had a massive problem with my asexuality. Me not having sex doesn't impact how much sex they're able to have (if anything it will, admittedly to an infinitesimal degree, increase how much sex they're able to have due to their being less competition). Now, God knows, they've never been more capable of rationally explaining what it has to do with them than the gamers who have an issue with other people using easy modes. As such, my best guess for both is that the mere act of reminding them that it's possible not to give a damn about things that are so integral to their self-image is an affront to said self-image. If you define yourself solely by your gaming prowess (or sex-having), you're probably pretty sensitive to even the slightest inference that those things might be trivial. Or maybe they're just pricks - I'm a not a psychologist.

These people must absolutely loathe the developers of the games in question. I mean they have the audacity to design and implement something other than Nightmare mode. Did ID start the trend? Whatever. Fuck 'em for following it if not, right?

I hope Casey giving a indie recommendation is going to be a regular addition! Always good to hear from her :)

Thank God for You

Wow, I never knew that was an argument anyone made. While I could see both sides of the From Software debate, artistic vision vs. accessibility and so on, what leg do they have to stand on if people are tuning in to watch a streamer playing on a lower difficulty setting? That the viewers are being fooled? It's blatantly gatekeeping nonsense. Also, thank god for you.

Honstly, most games are not worth it to put more time in them by choosing hard mode - streaming or not.

Maybe if you really enjoy the gameplay over the characters or plot, but otherwise yeah. The only game I've ever replayed on a higher difficulty was Persona 5, and that was to attempt to get through a NG+ (still haven't, I love those games to death but if you carry over your stats there is just zero challenge).

TBH I understand kinda where the gamers are coming from on this one. There are a lot of really skilled streamers who have trouble growing. I think part of the fault here lies in the perception of the purpose streaming (tho I am only a bit in this may be addressed). Twitch came up as a place to watch highly skilled players do their thing. The second market opened when pretty girls brought their tits out for tips while playing games (no judgement there, sex work is work). So a lot of the perception of the non-skilled gaming is connected to that. I think as Twitch becomes more and more dominated by personality driven content that is divorced from skill, gamers who thought they had a platform that catered to the hardcore crowd are going to feel displaced, but ultimately they should be driving engagement to the creators they want instead of disparaging the ones the don't. Kind of reminds me of when Adult Swim started airing non-animated content and some folks in that fandom spazzed.

This is definitely my favorite hair so far.

I've never watched a game streamer before, because if I want to play a game, I will play it myself. If I am not interested...well... But I want to watch Jim Sterling because I enjoy Jim Sterling! I used to think of Jim as a sort of loveable curmudgeon. Nowadays...well, there is actually no female equivalent to 'curmudgeon'. Mostly folks call us 'bitches'. So, from one bitch to another, game on, JimSteph!

I can't actually see both sides from any perspective. If a game is offline, single player, what difference does it make if I play easy mode, or use CheatEngine, or pay my grandson to kill the boss for me???? (his hands still work...unlike mine...) I have read interviews with the producers of the Souls series, and they sneer about their artistic integrity. Which I see as a statement that they don't want my money. That's fine, I will spend it elsewhere....

What is that cute game with the animals and jigsaw puzzle shaped land bits?
