I have heard from informed sources that the human brain has difficulties working with large numbers, I can say this holds true for me. I struggle to grapple with the geologic time scale and I have a hard time figuring out what a $200M bonus is like. Is so far removed from the figures I usually handle on my daily life that I struggle to visualize it. 1/1000th of that is what in my income level would be considered 'a life changing amount'. Also Justin is a fucking priceless gem. Also also thank God for you James Stephanie Sterling and fuck Gilson The Pointless (on point when you 'rebranded' him, maybe pun intended?)

Gamestop's behavior towards its employees at the start of the pandemic was the absolute last straw for me. I'll never shop there again. Not that it was ever a good company, but fucking hell.

I like to put wealth like this. At 1 million dollars, you can buy a home in some parts of New England. At 10 million dollars, you can buy a home anywhere in New England. At 40 million dollars, your family, your indirect family, and 3 generations will never have to work. At 100 million dollars, that increases to about 5 generations. At 1 billion dollars, no one in your family tree will ever have to work ever again forever. At 10 billion dollars, you own 25 homes all over the world and a private jet. More than that the GDP of small countries. 80% of all stock is owned by 20% of investors. The fact that we are allowed access to this and the ridiculously wealthy tell us to save, while true, is also misleading. If i invest 1000 dollars at 7% interest, I get 70$. If I invest 10 billion dollars at 7% I get 700 million. Remember, 700 million is more than enough money to ensure that your entire family will never have to work ever again, like the Carnegie's or Kenedy's. That is the wealth disparity we are talking about. It also means that we cannot afford roads and schools because we gave that money to families.

At this point, I think it’s necessary to drag Gilson into the light. If only to force a legal precedent for abusing the DMCA. I also desperately want to see AOC drag Kotick over the coals for the latest farce over at Activision. Enough is enough, there needs to be legislation against this kind of corporate fuckery.

I have a feeling that this has to do with content moderation, or policing. Not just policing for actual copyright infringement, but also the false DMCA notices. EFF has a lot to say about youtube's borked system: https://www.eff.org/wp/unfiltered-how-youtubes-content-id-discourages-fair-use-and-dictates-what-we-see-online Obviously, there is way more content than human beings to moderate at scale. Stay safe.
