Yes, it's time to talk about Cyberpunk 2077 again. The game just got an incredibly short delay, and the threatening response from so-called "fans" has been pathetic and alarming.

 It's weird that people who claim to love the company and its games were so quick to harass and threaten to kill the people who work there.   The protection CDPR's branding gets from people is so far removed from the contempt shown to CDPR's talent. 

In any case, this exhausting news cycle of a game doesn't need a three week delay. Let's give it the time it needs extend development by three years.

Haven’t watched the video yet (I work in Elections, and this is hell week for folks in my career field), but I am 1000% in agreement based on the title and video description alone. #ThankGodForJim

Not only LGBT people though. There are MASSIVE protests in Poland for nearly two weeks now against the conservative government, with over a million people in the streets of hundreds of cities and towns, all fighting for women's (reproductive, first and foremost) rights, LGBT+ rights, secular state, actual education reforms, support for mental health care, many other things, and on top of that all - some actual action against COVID pandemic.

This video to me felt lacking in focus and depth, saying a lot of things and dishing critique, but without providing the usual quality of argumentation. I was left in a bit of a loss of what was the main message with the show this time. To me, today's episode unfortunately was Mediocre.

Hmm. That sounds like it might impact business and that companies might actually be smart to not push workers too much. I actually didn't know about the protests. I am not suprised but it never broke my news cycles with Trump ruining everything.

Not really. Some people really suck. They shouldn't live for a video game. It is about entitlement and what that brings. Like, in the US there are people who feel entitled to live in a White country free from gays, subversive types, and Jews. They feel so entitled to this position that they terrorize the bad people via cross burnings, open carry, voter suppression efforts, and domestic terrorism. Now immagine those people doing the same thing for everything that they don't like. I received numerous death threats when I was on Facebook by the same people who send death threats because something they have a right from God to obtain was unavailable. The wrong president, bad governor, Jews existing, Black people voting, a game delay... it is all the same and worthy of the same response. We are not doing what they want and death should damn well ensue because Fox or OAN strongly suggests that is the only course of action left. Oh yea. And in like, 2 months, no one will remember what the fuss was about and we probably should have just given the developers 6 more months.

You're right again Jim. And it's disgusting what these brands and their addicts are doing. And I don't say "addicts" lightly. These brands get players usually long before the executives' abuses are known and the players start associating happy feelings with their games. Years later, they can't handle that their happy source (which has been churning out the seratonin-making games in a near constant stream) is actually run by greedy, abusive, sometimes outright criminal, capitalists. They need the high now, especially with the world being the hellscape that it is. Combine that with the actual predatory psychological tactics many of the AAA publishers wedge into the games themselves and it just compounds the problem. None of this excuses what these gamers™ are doing, sending death threats to the people who just want to make a living actually making video games. That is deplorable and should be punished in some way. But these people probably actually need treatment of some sort. But that's anti-capitalist so who knows when that'll ever become an actual initiative. tl;dr This problem will never be addressed so long as fascism (because let's not forget that the majority of these gamers™ are straight white dudes) and capitalism reign. CDPR executives count on the "fans" to "defend" them. These abusive "gamers" are doing the bidding of their corporate overlords which seems to be anathema to the whole genre of "cyberpunk". Also holy hell Poland sounds like it's going through some horrific stuff and to everyone who is fighting for a more egalitarian society there, good luck and please be as safe as possible.

You talked about LGBT rights, LGBT-free zones, etc. I was referring to the anti-gov protests which erupted a week ago. "You can fuck off" is a loose translation of what people are chanting on the streets.

So let's assume that these people actually are sociopaths with no regard for the lives of others. Isn't this behavior still self-destructive? It's like they want the game to be rushed, developed by the sleep deprived, and made possible through shortcuts that ultimately make the game worse. Do you want Fallout 76? I mean hell, I'd just cancel it. Entirely cancel the game, right now. If it has gotten to the point it can shock someone who monitors Youtube comments sections, it's time to pull the plug and say to these people 'You clearly didn't deserve it, so you aren't getting it.'
