An incredible FINALE to this series. Tom stocks are up!! Looking back and now having sat with this show, I really commend this ending for taking a tragic route for the siblings (maybe less tragic for Roman & Connor). All never really had or let the opportunity of being a human and living normally touch them. Blinded by the surface level goal of being CEO and having the attention from their father more than anything else.

This was an incredible series! Comment your thoughts below and be sure to vote on what's the next tv show! Cheers!

Now that you’re done I can tell you that the creator stated after the show that it was UNDERLINED NOT CROSSED OUT

Season 4 of Succession is a GOAT season of TV and perfectly wraps up the entire series. James recently reacted to The Godfather 2 and it's interesting how the ending to that film and this series line up in opposite directions. In Godfather 2, Michael Corleone is sitting on a bench at the zenith of his power yet has nobody except his bodyguards. In contrast, Kendall is sitting at a bench when everything is lost where the remaining people loyal to him are his bodyguards protecting him from self-termination.

I love that in hindsight, the last conversation Logan has with all his children together is telling them that they’re not serious people. And that sort of becomes the final thesis of the show.

I think the only true winner in the end was Mattson, and maybe Roman Kendall basically lost everything. Shiv will always be stuck in the "woman role" she fought so hard to get out of. Tom will continue to "suck the biggest dick", and will probably have to live with the fact that his boss is haveing relations with his wife. Roman got out, and his final moment is, to me, him realizing that he escaped this hamster wheel of trauma, and can maybe build a normal life for himself now. And of course, the viking did as vikings do, pillaged and won. B) It has been great to see your reaction to this show! I love to hear your reflections on these heavier shows.

Tom won. His primary motivator is money and he got one of the highest paying, best CEO jobs in his field, which basically guarantees he'll be able to work CEO jobs forever even if he gets fired. He'll be like a richer Rhea, able to shop around with multi-million dollar compensation packages. Or he stays at Gojo Waystar and gets absolutely minted with a relatively easy job of doing whatever Mattson wants. His story is insane: started in lowly Parks, married the boss' daughter, got promoted to co-head of ATN + made full head over Syd, "hand-picked by Logan" when he fell out with his kids, and finally made CEO over Logan's actual kids. From the outside it looks like Tom had this genius meteoric rise based on merit, only a few people know the truth. His home/family life is fucked, sure, but I don't even know how much he cares about that compared to getting ungodly rich. Shiv can shag whoever she wants and Tom can live his rich cosplay life while several nannies raise another broken Roy child.

Great reactions, it's been a fun watch through. I'm a bit of an outlier in that I actually quite dislike the ending and the more I rewatch the more I don't like it. I think they needed 1 more season to show the fallout of the election + Mattson/Tom fighting the kids. It's funny because this ended around the same time as Barry, and I think Barry's ending has aged a lot better. I like Logan dying, I like Mattson conflict, I like Tom 'winning' on paper, just not much in practice. I was frustrated that a few plot threads went nowhere (like India numbers) so a big chunk of the season feels pointless when you know how it ends, as opposed to BB or BCS where everything matters. I basically think Kendall should have won at the cost of everything, fully turning into baby Logan 2.0 alienated from his family + siblings, and then getting fired anyway due to market conditions. But another show has this ending and I legit think they couldn't do it again. At its best the show is packed with good stuff, and I'll always wholeheartedly recommend it to people. S2/S3 were peak TV. I wish the ending was more to my taste but it doesn't sour an otherwise excellent show. Really excited to see if the crew does something new.
