Happy December Pals!
I was feeling a little nostalgic and wanted to draw something kinda quick and fun.... so Kagome!  Haha!

Growing up I watched anime like Dragon Ball  and Dragon Ball Z on cartoon network but I had no idea what anime was at the time.  When I was made fun of by siblings for watching stuff like DBZ, I stopped watching it for years...  It was only when I randomly saw an episode of Inuyasha that I was reintroduced to Anime and came to learn about what this japanese style of animation actually was!  It is the show that really made me fall in love with anime and manga, and start me on my weeb journey.

Although I don't watch anime or ready manga nearly as much as I used to I still absolutely adore it and when I find a good new show to binge I am not ashamed to do so!

Anime is has definitely been a huge influence on my artwork and I used to be ashamed of that, since I was told in University that anime didn't have good design and I shouldn't draw it.  So I forced myself to draw subjects and styles that didn't really resonate with me, which led to a huge burnout.  I didn't draw hardly anything for about 2 years after that.

What I have learned since coming back to art and seeing actual improvement is, instead of demonizing a certain style or subject matter, it is actually  very very important to keep drawing what you love, are passionate about!  What I have noticed is that the kids who started with drawing anime and just kept going are some of the most amazing artists out there today!

So keep going, and keep doing what you love!

She looks incredible Chrissa! I love how her hair turned out! I also agree completely that other art styles are demonized too often, especially in art schools. The story that you shared is really encouraging!

Thank you so much! Yeah, so many artists have a hard time with this in art school. I hope it is getting better now that more and more artists correspond online and hear similar stories like this.
