I've always loved the swan lake ballet/ story line. I remember watching barbie in swan lake when i was a kid, it was a lot of fun ! This piece is my take on Odette, the swan princess as she transition from human to swan or the other way around:3. I went for a more mute and grey/blue palette.

Looks very beautiful Sakimi Chan! Especially loving the muted coloring scheme. I've been a fan of Swan Lake since childhood as well. Only with me it was the music. Never saw the ballet until I was in my late teens. My favorite rendition of it was a Japanese anime I saw a few years later as an adult. They also did a similar take on Odette and it's the main reason that became my fave. You have managed to one up it and I would love to see more like this! Thank you! <3

I always get all giddy when I see the first pieces of a new term~ I'm not sure how much more I can say how beautiful your pieces are but they are lol. I love this so much and I will always be amazed at how well you paint. The skin is always flawless, your understanding of fundamentals in itself is spot on, and your ideas and depictions of things are so unique. You're like my holy grail. Love it!!!! ❤︎

This is very beautiful! I really love the colour palette and the composition. The feathers are beautifully painted and I really love the softness of her skin. Her expression really compliments the softness of her skin and the feathers. One of your best pieces, I think! <3

sakimichan

Hi, Sakimi, I want to become a patron for you but I just noticed that the Tier 3 is sold out so I wouldn't be able to get the prizes. Is there a way to sign up for the tier 3 prizes?

Very beautiful piece. I love the color palette that you used. The contrast of the darker background with the brighter colors of Odette is really cool. Great detail on the feathers and the hair. Her face is so gorgeous. You've really done an incredible job with this painting! ^^

This is perhaps one of the best of your works which I have yet seen. I'm not sure whether the greatness of the original story helps (including, of course, the equal greatness and the depth of the character of Odette herself, which - I assume? - helps any artist to render a moving image of same?), but what is certainly true is that you have a great ability to depict deep and, in this case, powerfully sad/sorrowful emotion, while yet retaining a sublime and captivating beauty; in this work, the strongly evident emotion does not (as is quite common in such depictions of Odette) detract from, but rather enhances her inner AND outer beauty.

Anonymous

PS: In the above, "moving" = "emotionally moving"... I don't suffer from double vision! Just to clarify... :)

Anonymous

PPS: Congratulations, also, in the very difficult task of creating an image which, although it COULD be seen, I suppose, by some viewers as a "sexy" image (not at all appropriately or correctly, I would say) - and despite the certainly spectacular physical form which you have given to Odette (and yes, your ability to portray immaculately and superhumanly perfect human skin really DOES come into its own in this image, as others have mentioned; very apposite for such a famously "perfect yet doomed" fantasy character!), you have still been able to give the nude Odette the simultaneous appearance of POTENTIAL physical seductiveness tempered and made NON-sexy by her innate spiritual/moral virtue (an effect which the Classical masters often similarly achieved in paintings of certain female saints or notable religious figures such as the Biblical Tamar [book of Genesis], who prostituted herself for a virtuous reason: Horace Vernet's well-known rendering of "Tamar with Judah", for example, can be found at the URL below for reference. I will not link the image itself, since it is "NSFW" (although it should not be; the world's standards are often misguided...), but it does actually bear comparison, in my view, with the same aspects of your own image of Odette. Truly excellent work!) URL : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamar_(Genesis)

This is so pretty. I really like the pose and the feathers and the night sky background.

Américo Gonçalves Neto

The somber tone and at the same time clean, is the main attraction of this drawing. The composition well balanced, made the character much more attractive and at the same time immaculate.

Frank Leo

Will there be a "black" version?
