I could listen to Gael’s voice all day, it is so dreamy. ☺️

This is beautiful! I love your pacing; it captures the melodic qualities of this poem perfectly. I was also wondering, if you were to read more poetry, would you consider reading The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes? If you haven’t read it, I think you would really enjoy it. It’s a tragic love story, and one of my all time favorites because it perfectly encapsulates what I love about poems and their origination from oral stories passed down by generation.

Would you post an audio of you reciting my favorite poem (I believe others favorite as well) by Robert Frost? "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening” ... The woods are lovely, dark and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep.

Dearest Gael, I’m in the midst of a terrible bout of insomnia—thank you for the soothing sounds of your voice and the wonderful choice of verse. 💜 On a lighter note: How many times did it take to get this just right? 🤔

Anonymous

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Been waiting for this! Happy Monday indeed G and Lovelies!😘❤

Anonymous

2 hours until my lunch break and then I can indulge. Can't wait!

Anonymous

If I were sitting down I would’ve been on the edge of my seat lol. This was fantastic !! I’m left in that ominous headspace with the goosebumps, and the almost-swaying-to-its-rhythm thing that happens, and a desire to hear it again and oh wait I can do that because it’s an audio lol heeeck yeeeesss 😆🙌🏻 Ya done did good, kid!!!! It was beautiful!

Anonymous

Beautiful, haunting performance! I love Poe, and I'm very pleased to say you've done it justice!

Anonymous

5:30 am and I can’t sleep...you are heaven sent Gael. Yes I want your voice to be the first thing I hear this Monday morning.

Anonymous

Listening to this just took me right back to uni. I felt like I was in a English Literature class again, I'm amazed at how a poem can have such a nostalgic effect even though I've never studied it in particular lol. I know of it, of course. Greatly executed, sounded memorised like a true thespian! Bravo, good sir, bravo! 👏🏾👏🏾

Gaelforce

Yes. Patreon didn't upload the entire track. I edited it. It's there now!

The scenario fits with your hypnotic Irish accent.. No need for any sound effects at all..very beautifully preformed.. And oh dear, it can only inspire for more poems to come 😃 you can't help being touched😃 Have a wonderful day Good ass Prana 😄😘❤️❤️❤️😃😃😃

The way you play with and control your voice is just mindblowing! Amazing job, Gael! ❤️❤️❤️

Yay!! Finally here -- I can't wait until I have time to listen later. The artwork is beautiful, G, as I am sure the audio will be.

One of my favorites! Nothing farther then he uttered—not a feather then he fluttered— Till I scarcely more than muttered "Other friends have flown before-on the morrow he will leave me, as my Hopes have flown before". Then the bird said “Nevermore.” oh, gives me chills. Them asmr chills. 😉 thank you

Anonymous

Looking forward to listening to this later! And picturing Seanie freaking out cos it’s too close to a crow for comfort! 😂

Oooh. Nice. I have been to the Poe house in Baltimore a couple of times. He really was an interesting, brilliant poet. I love this, actually. I'd love to have reading of classic literature become a regular or semi-regular thing! You have a lovely reciting voice.

Always_Wondering

What a lovely surprise, I've always loved Poe's works. Thank you for this.

Anonymous

Listened to it on my lunch break. A welcome change from the stumpy smallalk here. Colleague: „Wow, your nail polish is awesome. What colour is it?“ Me: „It‘s red. I'm off for ten minutes.“ Yes, although this poem always leaves me with a sad feeling (I don't like the word Nevermore at all, but I love its rhythm), I prefer to listen to it for the thousandth time rather than having stupid conversations. I've already told you that I love the way you use your voice while telling stories, jokes or whatever, and you didn't disappoint me this time either. Thank you for the welcome distraction from this everyday bullshit. Have a nice day my dear♥️😘♥️

Anonymous

"It's red. Like the blood of my enemies." Sorry. XD

Anonymous

Good one Angie👏🏼

Anonymous

❤️❤️ Amazing! Hypnotic! The random nuances of Irish word pronunciations added intrigue to the poem along with your excellent voice control and inflections. 😋 As one other Lovelie stated there would be no complaints from me if literature reading became a semi-regular treat! 💜 💜**swooning at the thought** 😍 Thank you for this beautiful recitation. 👏👏👏

Anonymous

In college I used an excerpt from this poem for my dramatic reading in Public Speaking class. Just glad you were not in my class and chose to read this as well. I may received an F if you did. Beautiful job.

Anonymous

That was beautiful, thank you 😊 ❤️ you could read your shopping list and make me melt into a happy puddle 😍more poetry please your voice is so good 😘😘😘

Just when I thought you couldn't get any better, you go and do this! You're absolutely amazing Gael. As a poet who's been a Poe fan for longer than I can remember, I genuinely hope you decide to read more poetry for us. ️❤️

Anonymous

It's been said before that you could read the phone book and people would swoon 😂 I remember having to read this in Lit class in High School. This would have recieved a standing ovation, a parade maybe even the key to the city. All jokes aside this was wonderfully done seriously the best reading of The Raven I have ever heard 😊 well done Gael 💕

Anonymous

You did an amazing job at reading this, G 😍

Anonymous

Super duper awesome. An intricate marathon of a reading. What a treat! 🙂

Anonymous

Your pacing was amazing, it brought about a very mellow and almost macabre air to the piece. Very well done! I will also admit I found your half-whispers much more hard-hitting than a deeper boom-like voice that some people will read this in.

Anonymous

Oh, I really like this turn. I agree with what many have already said - some more poetry readings from you would be lovely, Gael. If you go for more Poe, "The Telltale Heart" is an amazing story that could lend itself to a wonderful performance. Or maybe a love poem, like "Bright Star" by Keats? Oh, but Tennyson's "The Lady of Shalott" is one of my favorite things I have ever read; I think it would be well suited to you. Or anything Tennyson and his friends wrote - musical, moving, often relating to love, and probably perfect with an Irish lilt.

Anonymous

Beautiful and well done! Magnifique! ❤️

It seems like I have been waiting for the completed version of this forever, and after hearing it, I must say it was worth the wait. "The Raven", excuse me, is a bitch to recite and perform. The metrical pattern is complex while the rhyme creates the potential for the recitation to become more singsong instead of ominous and affecting. Add to that the difficult word choice and the potential for over doing the emotional moments of the scene, and you have a poem that can drive one crazy. However, you did a beautiful job, mastering all of the parts that make this poem wonderful and difficult, presenting a piece that is at once heartfelt and painful, capturing Poe's meaning very well. "The Raven" is not a poem meant to be scary; instead, it is about love and longing, passion and despair. You grasped that so well and presented it beautifully, G. I also like how simple you kept this -- just your voice, inflection, and the words. I have heard other recordings with sound effects and overdone acting. The fact that you kept this simple added to the meaning and to the beauty of the performance. Well done, G -- take a bow sir! I can't wait until I teach "The Raven" in a few weeks so I can use the recording with my students. I think they'll love it.

Dearest Gael, I would LOVE to hear you read some Yeats. ❤️

In my mind that would have been an incredibly hard read! So no edit track with a mistake followed by a bunch of "Fuck! Fuckfuckfuckfuckfuckiedyfuckidyfuuuuck!"? I'm impressed!

Gri (Sassy_One)

You did a great job, G!! Your pace, your voice, everything was to the point!! Thank you for this😁😁😁

Guten Morgen meine Lieben. Hope everyone has a pleasant Dienstag!? How´ s the weather? Here it´ s a cold, clear night... the almost-full moon had a beautiful pale, creamy colour. So... "The Raven"... hmm, I´ d prefer another wild animal https://hellopoetry.com/poem/1834552/all-hail-the-lizard-king/ Hahaha... I have some quick, daily Fragen... if you like? Are you afraid of Mäusen - mice? Have you ever had an out of body experience? When taking a shower do you face the shower head or do you have your back turned? If a giraffe were to wear a Krawatte - tie, would he wear it at the top of his neck or at the bottom of his neck? Have you ever sent/found a Flaschenpost - message in a bottle? Danke Schätzchen... bis dann. XD

Guten Tag, Frau Claudia and the rest of you sexy moon pies! The weather is chilly here, but it’s bearable. Luckily it’s nice and toasty here in the laundry room, which helps to make up for the sheer sucktitude that is doing laundry! 😔 Since time passes thrice as slowly in any laundry facility compared to the rest of the civilization, I shall have plenty of time to answer the Dienstag Fragen 🧐 Fear of mice? I’m actually okay with mice. My brother and I had hamsters when we were children, and a mouse isn’t too much different (apart from being smaller and having a longer tail). So when one of my colleagues spotted a mouse scurrying across the floor of the clinic one day, I had to catch the poor, frightened little bugger because no one else would go near it. And everything about the capture was going well until another colleague of mine commented, “Oh geez, I hope it doesn’t have Hantavirus!” At which point I froze, holding the bucket that I had just coaxed the mouse into and remembering how my high school biology teacher had almost died of Hantavirus after contracting it from a mouse in his compost bin 😱 That put the fear of God into me, but ultimately I was more afraid of catching a Biosafety Level 3 virus than I was of the mouse itself. So I’m guess I’m cool with mice overall 🤷🏻‍♀️ Out of body experience! I’ve only had out of body experiences within the context of dreams. But if such a thing is possible in the waking world, I can’t say that I’d want to try it 😧 The shower shuffle! I make use of both positions, but I spend more time facing away from the shower head. In fact, the only time I turn around to face it is when I’m rinsing off my face, the front of my torso, and my legs. The snazzy giraffe! I can honestly say that this is something I’ve never, ever thought about until this very moment 😆 Hmm...I think it would look nicer at the top of his neck 🤔 Message in a bottle! I’ve never sent or found a message in a bottle before. It seems like a really interesting idea, but realistically, what are the odds of someone actually finding it if the bottle is tossed overboard while at sea? I suppose you could always toss it closer to the shoreline, but that almost seems a bit like cheating 🧐 Plus have you seen how much I can write? I’d probably need to chuck a water cooler bottle into the ocean 😝

Finally got chance to listen! That was fantastic G! I've heard this one parodied so much that I'd forgotten how atmospheric it could sound when played serious. ^^ Do you think you'd ever maybe consider doing a reading of ghost stories or mythology? You really got the tone and pacing right in this, it would definitely translate over 👻

Hey guys!! Just wanted to come by and say hi....Hiiiii!! So I decided something last Sunday. I was tired of sitting at home every weekend and day and night.. Granted, my fear is what kept me there. So I put my "big girl panties" on and came to work. I got asked for my number by this guy. Before I could formulate a lie or excuse I was writing it down. He texted and now I have a date.... tonight!!!!😨. Am I nervous? Hell yeah!! Did I try to figure a way out of it? You know I did!!! The kicker? He's only 27years old😱😨😱😨. (I'm not a cougar unless I actually "do" something, right????). So I'm freaking out a bit but 'BG' panties securely in place.. right over my chastity belt 😆😆😆 don't let me chicken out!!! See ya on the other side chickadees!!!

Anonymous

That's awesome! I mean, if the age thing isn't a factor. I hope you have a good time tonight 😊

****UPDATE OF MY DATE**** Ok chickadees let me fill you in on some thangs...So we went to to this place called the Dark Horse. I told him that I will only have one (he bought me a double). I don't think I expressed this earlier but he's from El Salvadore, so there was a bit of a language barrier. This, however was ot a problem because he helped me brush up on some of my Spanish and I helped him with English. Not a problem! He asked me several times if I wanted to go up the "Lookout" throughout the day. Me not knowing the city where I work in very well thought it was a bar asked one of the girls. He was talking about Lookout Mountain (a beautiful place where you can over look the city-it's lovely at night with all of the lights down below). I can't see very well at night, plus...NO!!! I have no desire to be in the mountains in the dark with a stranger. He brought up going up to "the Lookout" again, I said no. We talked some more and once again brought it up. I said no again. I told him earlier I cold only stay 2 hrs. (8 o'clock and I'm ghost) He also kept trying to give me some of his drink. I put my drink on the end of the table. Part of our conversation: Me: Where do you live Michael: *devilish smirk* why are you asking where I live? Me: I just wanted to know. You said you live here...right? Michael: You want to see? We can go... Me: (quickly interrupts) No Michael: Maybe next time Me: (mumbles) probably no... So he asks if I want to go out side. It's pretty windy and chilly. Michael: Say "es bastante frio afuera" Me: Es bastante frio afuera...what am I saying? Michael: "it's pretty chilly out here" Let's get in. He opens the door, I get in. Color me naive, but no I did not expect what My Little Latin Lupe Lu was trying to do. I will not bore you with the details but, needless to say, I told him it was 8:03 and I had to go... Michael: Give me 7 more minutes... Me: No...move. Conclusion: He looked at me like I was a "Cougar" and expected me to act accordingly...soooo I will not be doing that again. Don't feel bad for me, lesson learned. I learned Michael just wanted to smash ****UP DATE OF UP DATE**** Before I write this I have to tell you something. Michael is from El Salvadore and prefers to text instead of talk because his phone translates to English. I thought about just "Ghosting" (just ignoring him untill he got the point) His texts: Hello Good morning How are you doing Are you angry with me I am sorry I'm not going to lie...I did "ghost" him while I was at work because I was thinking about not answering him at all ) but I decided to text him. I let him know that I couldn't continue seeing him. I said I felt he wanted something I wasn't ready for (To Smash!!) and I didn't see this going any further. His texts: I want to continue dating you What don't you like How do you want me to be with you I said this is just to fast. I recently divorced and I thought I was ready for something like this but i'm not. His texts: I didn't know this (he didn't know because he really didn't ask me anything I think his mind was on something else....hmmm) I really would like to go out with you more (translation: how many more times before I get to Smash?) At least while I still live her for only 2 to 3 more months (Hmm think this would have been a great topic to discuss) Will you not ever go out with me again? I said I just don't think this is a good idea, I'm sorry. His text: Then just try it (BRUH! Come on) Even if we don't have a relationship you shouldn't have to suffer that way (abstinence?) You should be able to enjoy your life I said I just can't. I wish you the best, Michael. Take care of yourself, Bye. His text: You leave me very sad (I felt bad right here) I like you a lot. I will enjoy every moment every moment I see you at the bank for the next two months.....(fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!!!!!) So, yeah...No more youngin's

Anonymous

Oh, balls 🙁 I’m sorry that the date didn’t pan out as you hoped it would, Elaine. But you still took a really brave step by going out in the first place, and that’s something to be proud of 🙂

Sometimes mismatches in what a person is hoping to get out of a date don’t become apparent until smack dab in the middle of the date, so I think I could forgive Michael for that one. But the way he kept pushing the issue was immature and out of line. You made yourself clear that you weren’t interested in taking things further, and even if that’s something he wasn’t thrilled about, he should’ve manned up and respected that. That might be a product of his age, but I’ve also seen people older than 27 act that way 😒

If or when you do feel ready for entering the dating scene again, I hope things go more smoothly! Would you ever consider taking up a new hobby/activity (e.g., dance class, book club, anything really) where you might be able to go out and meet new people in general? I find it’s a lot less stressful and people are more open to the idea of really getting to know someone if they approach it from a “Hey, I’m just here to try new things and hopefully make some new friends!” angle instead of a date 🤔

You also have a sympathy “fuuuuuuuuuuck!” from me as far as possibly running into Casanova at the bank goes 😬 That’s a giant pile of nutsacks right there. (As you can see, I’ve taken to using slang words for male genitalia to express sentiments of displeasure or exasperation 😯)
