I really don't know that I should be listening to this at all given that I am too much of a chicken to actually post anything in the workshop thread. But I will. Christmas is a very difficult time of year for me because it's the time of year when I have lost a lot of people close to me. For everyone else, itit's a happy time. For me, it's a time of year tinged with melancholy. It isn't that I don't want to contribute. It's just difficult for me.

I will say though that I did thoroughly enjoy this after having listened to it. I really do feel like i concentrate too much on the negative sometimes. But somehow or another, you always manage to pull me out of even my deepest doldrums. To take many varieties of this theme and come up with something so peaceful, fun, and sweet is truly wonderful. I love how you found a way to bring in the jokes and storytelling along with the romantic and even meditative elements. That certainly says something for your ability to craft a story that is appealing to so many on so many levels. Add to that the layers with the sound of the storm outside and the fire inside, and you have created something that rivals some of the early radio dramas. Thank you so much for this – it warmed my heart a bit to listen to it and brought a rather goofy smile to my face in the process. (And your poor Christmas trees! LOL)

I love this! It is much needed (I'm very much feeling like a bad mother/daughter/wife with all of the pre-xmas chaos) and I managed to listen to the first 20 minutes on my drive home from work before launching back into the mania. Because running naked through the snow sounds dreadful. Today saw my lab partner successfully defend his PhD thesis (he'll graduate in March) and me finish a headshot for my friend's RPG character. 'Twas convenient, as it now becomes her Christmas present. (She lives two time zones away, so it's tough.) Now, I get to start my own character's head shot! And I'm excited. Her model is <i>gorgeous</i>. And now, this: <b>It's not even my decade, but...</b> — There are so many 80's movies I love! D: And I can only choose one? Very well...Empire Strikes Back gets a narrow win over Real Genius, on account of Real Genius doing the "obviously you get into college by winning a science fair" thing. <b>Jazzed on java</b> — Eww, none. I don't like coffee. <b>What's new, pussycat?</b> — I have to say, I'm still partial to the good ol' domestic short-haired cat. <b>Snow and ice for sporting</b> — I do enjoy watching the speed skating during the Olympics (I also like figure skating and snowboarding half-pipe, but those are competitions, not sports). <b>My current jam</b> — Ever since I created this character, I've had the song "Layla" stuck in my head. Three guesses why, and the first two don't count. :V <b>Once upon a time...</b> — It's not very well-known, but I like the story of little Two-Eyes. A monster woman had three daughters. The oldest, One-Eye, had only one eye. The youngest, Three-Eyes, had three eyes. But the middle child, Two-Eyes, had two eyes like everyone else. As a result, her family treated her horribly—and the rest is basically a Cinderella story. But I liked the twist that they treated her horribly because she looked <i>normal</i>—not beautiful, not ugly, just normal. <b>The last 24</b> — My favorite accomplishment of the last 24 hours is definitely that character headshot. I had hardly gotten the skin tone laid (almost always my first step when painting) and knew she was going to be awesome. And she is. And my character will probably be poofing her way out of a lot of fights on account of that woman. :V

Hello Claudia and the Marvelous Maidens! Finally saw the new Star Wars movie in 3D today! So fun! On to the Fragen..... My fave 80's movie would be Ferris Bueller! Coffee? Hot n Black or Iced n Black in the summer! I love all cats but partial to orange tabbies. Ice Skating is my fave winter sport....to watch! Ha! Current fave song was posted the other day.. .It's "2000 miles" by Brad Byrd. Fairy tale? Hmm....I really don't know! Oh wait...Beauty &amp; the Beast. D’aww 🤗 I think the moral of the story is that nothing warms the heart more on a cold day than nostalgic tales full of laughter and overall merriment!<br><br>Also, make sure your home insurance policy is up to date before inviting Gael over to your house for the holidays. Out of curiosity, was the microphone in close proximity to your laptop (or PC) when this was recorded? There were a few brief periods throughout the audio where I heard a subtle grinding noise in the background (e.g., from 19:46 to 19:55), and it reminded me of what one of my previous laptops used to sound like when it was chugging along. Hallo to Claudia and the Fraugen! As my advisor said today, it was "another day in which we didn't blow up the lab...I think." See, we have a giant container of liquid helium. Liquid helium is very cold. It is very difficult to keep something that cold, so even though it's inside a giant thermos, you've got gas boiling off all the time (as with a cup of water, but much, much faster). While of course we don't like to lose this gas, as it's very expensive and can't be recovered once it's in the air (helium is literally so light that it floats out into space), it's necessary to leave a vent port open so that pressure can't build up. But you have to be careful; they have to be open in a certain way so as not to allow contaminants like nitrogen into the dewar...or more dangerously, water. That happened today. Water got inside the vent port and froze an ice block into it. While the dewar did still have an emergency blow-off valve (and yes, it was going off), you never want to be down to a single point of failure on a system like that. How do we deal with such a thing? In the short term (and I wish I were joking), we heat up a metal tube (aluminum or copper) and stick it down the port to try to heat up and break the ice block. Sadly, this means there is now water (and nitrogen, and oxygen) inside our dewar that's supposed to be pure helium. (For those of you wondering, yes, liquid oxygen is still a damn good accelerant. The flammables cabinet is in another room.) So how do we get it out? We have to warm the dewar to room temperature (which means extracting all the helium from what is currently a full dewar and finding some place to put it) and bake the nitrogen, oxygen, and most critically, WATER out of it. But at least my advisor noticed it before the dewar could freeze over the emergency blow-off port and build up enough pressure to explode. And yes, it would be a catastrophic explosion. A single liter of liquid helium occupies a whopping 738 L of space at 15º C (a chilly 59º F)! (Helium liquifies at -268º C at sea level.) And now, this: <b>Gordon Ramsay I am not</b> — I've been fortunate not to ruin a dinner entirely or do myself any serious injuries, but the worst one I ever did was stabbing myself with a paring knife. I was cutting the tops out of some half-frozen strawberries, and while Smart Me knew this was probably too dangerous, Harried Me said that I knew what I was doing and things were going just fine. The knife slipped, and I plunged the tip a good half-centimeter (~0.25") into my finger. <i>"Okay, no problem,"</i> said Pragmatic Self. <i>"Yeah, it's bleeding a lot, but you've got good bandages in the bathroom. Just hurry over there and get one in place pronto!"</i> I rush to the bathroom (a mere 10 feet from my kitchen), and get the box of bandages out of my medicine cabinet. By now, I'm starting to feel a little woozy; the pain is significant, and ever since puberty, I haven't done well with the sight of blood. (Damn you, hormones. I was fine as a kid.) <i>"I'll just get the bandage on real quick,"</i> I said to myself, <i>"and then I can sit down or lie down if I need."</i> I had just gotten the bandage onto my finger when I realized it was no longer a question of "if." I made to lie down on my bathroom floor (I have a nice, cushy shower mat that looked really attractive at that point), and the next thing I knew, I woke up right where I'd intended to lie, but with a streak of blood over the lid of my toilet seat. As I'd been laying myself down on purpose and vaguely leading with that hand, I have absolutely no idea how that streak of blood got there. <b>Compulsion to ____</b> — My brain frequently tells me that I don't need to eat. <i>"Go to work without breakfast,"</i> it says. <i>"Work through lunch,"</i> it says. <i>"Don't worry about dinner,"</i> it says. It's not at all unusual for me to eat a single meal on the day as a result, possibly with an unhealthy snack (fried potatoes of some sort, usually) in between. <b>The most interesting thing</b> — I know the right answer is "my labmate's thesis defense," but that would be a lie. I haven't seen or read much in the way of interesting things, actually. <b>Bored to tears</b> — Most boring fictional character to meet in real life? Piers Polkiss from <i>Harry Potter and the Philosopher's (Sorcerer's) Stone</i>. Dude was so boring that he didn't even make it into the movie. He's just the Muggle friend of a Muggle boy who happened to have a wizard cousin, and probably didn't even ever know that his friend <i>had</i> a wizard cousin. Dead boring.

But first, the fragen... Am I good at charades? I think so. Charades was one of my favorite games growing up. What do I have on my fridge door? Nothing. Our fridge is stainless steel, so magnets won't work. We don't even stick notes up there (though we really, REALLY should so certain people in the house won't eat all the food 😒) The last thing I took a picture of? A ladybug on my window.
