Marge Simpson Origins

Part prequel, part season 2.5, Queen Charlotte tells the story of... well, Queen Charlotte! She's not exactly my favorite character from Bridgerton... but perhaps this will make me appreciate her more when season 3 comes around?

In case you were still wondering, the song you loved so much in the beginning was a cover of Beyoncés "Deja Vu". The Queen Charlotte soundtrack is my favorite so far.

the fact that you were jamming out to deja vu while drinking deja blue sent me

The real King George III had either Bipolar Disorder or Porphyria, a genetic disease. It's not known exactly which one he had, but Bipolar Disorder has become more of a popular theory now. Though it could have been a combination of both. He also did later develop dementia, which is how we see him in Bridgerton. Bridgerton takes place in the Regency Era when his son George IV took over as Prince Regent since the king was no longer able to perform his duties, due to becoming permanently 'insane'. It was actually the death of his youngest and most beloved daughter, Princess Amelia, who died from tuberculosis at 27 years old in 1810, that caused him to fully break his mind. Her death is mentioned in Season 1. He remained in his insanity from 1811 until his death in 1820, which is the time period when the Regency Era takes place. The doctor's inhumane treatments likely worsened his condition (from what I've read, the real King George III had even worse treatments in real life, as that was how the mentally ill were treated back then). The doctor was from Bedlam, which was known for its cruel, inhumane, and psychotic experiments disguised under the false pretence of being treatments for mental illness. Rather, the "treatments" and the patients were used as subjects for their experiments instead. Also, a fun fact is that the reason why the older Queen Charlotte's fashion looks different compared to everyone else is that it is from the Georgian Era, rather than the Regency Era, since as Brimsley said, she is trapped in time. A time when things were much easier for her, and when George wasn't suffering from dementia and his heightened illness. It also may be because her outdated fashion helps George recognize her in Bridgerton, as he is suffering from dementia.
