The little monologue by Shinra wasn't from a future prospective. He was literally comparing himself and that whole situation to Captain Hague's ordeal when he received his self-proclaimed "stigmata". Several characters throughout the last couple of episodes including Capt. Hague compared how similar the fire/damage was with this incident and "The Great Fire" a few years ago when he was scratched. Shinra was saying he was happy and thankful they saved so many and could walk away hearing people thanking the Fire Force unlike Hague who felt disappointment and despair while hearing the cries and screams of people who he was unable to save. Also, does anyone else think whistle boy sounds a lot like Erwin from AoT??
