No clue if you read comments on older stuff, but Ash is right about Levi. When he was looking up as he passed the gates he was remembering his time underground then the transition to open skies. That was a nice catch on the symbolism! I don't know which number expedition they were on when Eren saw them coming back in the first episode, but as a little bit of context that might help with the timeline, the commander who broke down in front of the soldiers mother is the same one from this OVA. That first expedition they return from is the last as him being the commander. He immediately resigns after that scene and asks Erwin to take over. Not sure if that's super helpful but atleast we know Erwin was commander for like atleast 5 or 6 years by the time Eren joins. I'm not gonna lie I wish y'all had waited till after season 2 to watch this particular OVA. Elise's Journal wouldve been a good one to watch in place of this lol. There's a good reason to watch them in said order, but still it was a nice reaction all the same!
