Hello there Habsburgs and Bourbons!

I finally managed to get myself going with the Tudor project ;) I had some back problems lately so sitting and clicking became a bit difficult. I managed to set up a quick workstation on the couch to continue with the projects.

I started thinking of Elizabeth's Gown materials like of four sets of textures - you can look them up in this post's images section.

The first one contains the bodice split at the center-back and at the middle of the straps and flattened. It also contains the jewelry maps. I mapped the jewels before copying them so it was easy to group the shapes. I tried to keep the bigger parts z=up oriented to make the ajdustments easier. The jewels are really small, so it's not that important if anything goes wrong there. I don't use symmetry for the bodice since it looks ugly most of the cases.

The second texture set contains the underskirt. I rotated it by 45 deg and I will try to update tangent space in Nifskope later on to make the normals work properly. (usually it works).

The third set contains the overskirt. Same as above.

And the fourth one is for the sleeves (I need only one since I use symmetry ) and this has some space left for the sleeve covers which I still have to model before moving on.

Here are some main principals for my UVW mapping:

1. I try to keep my parts z=up oriented

2. I try to use as much of the texture surface I can - I will adjust the maps resolution later on to decide what quality I will go for within a certain part.

3. I try to keep the checker size similar on different parts, but it's not always a must-have, since I can make the skirt for example 4k and the bodice 2k. But in general it's nice to keep the texture resolution similar all over the model.

4. I like to keep the small parts a bit bigger to give them a bit more quality. It also depends since it's definitely not nice to have some sharp details on a blurred surface.

That's all for now. If you'd like to ask me some questions about UVW mapping - feel free.

Have a great weekend guys!

K.
